When exposed objects on the ground become colder than the surrounding air, ice crystals can be deposited on them creating hoar frost. The effect on an entire tree after the sun comes up is stunning.

charged to protect
it wrapped it's cold embrace
around the edge of it's domain.
Nothing would enter,
nothing would deface,
without breaking the seige that held it's reign.

I find this photo very cold,
because of the cold tones,
and the expression on esmee's face.
I also like the focus and the depth of field in this.

Eyes tells stories. They are the window to the soul. But without the curves of your mouth, I feel like there's a lot missing. What am I thinking? What's my mood?
It's been really cold lately in SF. I was going to do a 52 week with the lights of union square, but I'm just recovering from being sick of some sort. At least it happened after Thanksgiving =)
Had a good weekend hanging out with Win, Tina, Cynthia, and Josh. Too bad I was sick all of yesterday, but feeling much better now.
This week going to get cranking on more Fanvibe stuff. And yes, I'm totally rocking the Yardbarker beanie =)

Cold Comfort was a participatory work installed in the Old Melbourne Gaol in Sept-Oct, 2012.
The piece was 6 feet of knitted work, sewn to a metal bar at one end and attached to the knitting loom at the other. Placed beside it was instructions inviting people to knit a few rows themselves. The placement in the gaol was directly across from the gallows (where the rope still hangs from a cross beam) and Cold Comofrt directly mirrored this. The work was an attempt to inject some warmth and humanity into the cold, solid gaol. As the piece developed, it introduced growth and movement into a place devoid of life and hope. Cold Comfort references care packages sent to prisoners and refugees while the act of knitting itself creates a bridge between the participants and each other, between the participants and those who lived and worked in this place. Labour intensive repetitive tasks were often given to prisoners to break their spirit and wear them down, with Cold Comfort I instead wished to provide a calm, gentle task to allow for space for contemplation.

Very cold on top of the Beinn Eighe mountain range, cold enough for a ice covered loch brrrr. To get a sense of the scale of the place look for tiny Jason.
