Day 3 and as it was slightly cold and rainy, I started off on a City Sight Seeing Bus. One of the stops was the Rijksmuseum so a some art and culture was viewed (something that this non Culture Vulture does'nt do often).
It did make me smile whilst I was standing opposite the Night Watch painting by Rembrandt (one of the most famous paintings in the world) when an American kid stood behind me and declared that he was really disappointed that they had not included a picture of Terrion Lannister from Game of Thrones in the painting. He meant it as well - oh well!
After lunch, the Red Light District. It has to be visited to be believed. There are no photos of the ladies in the windows as that's just plain rudeness and I believe illegal. It's big part of Amsterdam and its economy but I did not partake as I'm not into that kind of stuff.
I´m very cold...and when I´m cold I can only think of snow...
Don´t get me wrong, I love the snow and for some strange reason I´ve allways prefered the cold to the heat.
But today, i´m cold....
It's that time of year when the squirrels use their tails as parkas, scarves, and mufflers against the cold.
When exposed objects on the ground become colder than the surrounding air, ice crystals can be deposited on them creating hoar frost. The effect on an entire tree after the sun comes up is stunning.
Full Cold Moon
This night
All light
Full still moon
Lamp lit
Silhouette
Full still moon
Many faces
Secret places
Full still moon
Supernal eye
In the sky
Full still moon
Big stone
Cold Alone
Full still moon
In reverie
A memory
Full still moon
Only one
You are gone
Only tonight
to dream upon
Full
Cold

when the only resonable thing to do is to stay at home with a good book or fall asleep until spring comes
Me in an OC1 (outrigger canoe) today we had tests to see if we can steer and do a safety drill called a huli. Means you tipped your boat. Saftey drill is to put you in open water tip your boat and they time you to make sure you can get back in your boat in less than 30 seconds. The water was cold, i'm still all wrapped up in warm clothes and blankets after a warm shower and sauna session but I passed! I can now go out into open water on my own!! wooohoo!

I find this photo very cold,
because of the cold tones,
and the expression on esmee's face.
I also like the focus and the depth of field in this.
QUT Structural Engineering 2
Design was for a lightweight 0.9m column to carry a load of 110kN (11 tonnes). The column was to be made from G250 steel sheets with a yield stress/strength of 310MPa. The maximum number of plate elements was 15.
Of the 6 columns short-listed for testing (out of approx. 40 designs), 4 columns were actually tested, all of which failed above 120kN.

central park - NYC
depois da pausa para o café nós fomos ao Central Park. as árvores estavam praticamente sem folhas e ainda tinha sobrado um pouco de neve da noite anterior no chão (:
after the coffee break we went to the Central Park. the trees were almost leafless and in the ground there were a little bit of last-night-snow (:
