an observation
not just the temperature
for the past several years i have witnessed Saratoga disappear right before my eyes. the downtown was always great boutiques, townhouses, privately owned coffee shops. there was always a sunny side of the street
now my favorite shops have all seemed to vanished, the large retail chains have built up so fast and house apartments above them which totaly block the sun from the streets. I am standing outside of stabucks because there are not even any independent coffee shops anymore...at least not one i could find where i once knew.
still i grab a cup of overpriced coffee and head on over to visit my old friends "spit and spat" and harassed them a while...who knows...they may be replaced by an "mart" of some sort the next time i go there
are nevertheless good for spotting. Yesterday I spottet this nice black Aston Martin DBS in Frankurt. It was really really cold.
Behind him also stands an Aston Martin DB9 and a V8 vantage Roadster, really crazy for a
Cold dark Night!

Cottage country - temperature was -25 C and with the wind chill about -39C. even the toilet in the outhouse was too cold to use.

The morning sun reflects on the Moon and Jodrell Bank Telescope.. Bosley Cloud stands proud of the night mist rising from the Cheshire plain...the temperature hovers around minus four.
I got a little too excited about the warm weather last week and took the top off my Jeep. The ride to church yesterday was cold. Very cold.
Enjoying a weekend trip we stopped for some pictures at an aircraft hangar.
Strobist, SB800 to fill. I couldn't get it powerful enough to balance the sun, perhaps a reflector would have worked better? In the full sun I needed something more.

Reflection of a seagull in the icy, cold, blue water of Canandaigua Lake in Canandaigua, NY.
Gulls or seagulls are seabirds of the family Laridae in the sub-order Lari. They are most closely related to the terns (family Sternidae) and only distantly related to auks, skimmers, and more distantly to the waders. Until the twenty-first century most gulls were placed in the genus Larus, but this arrangement is now known to be polyphyletic, leading to the resurrection of several genera.
Cold at first, but lovely after a while...this was my first and probably last (toe) dip of the year at Beauport beach, Jersey, Channel Islands. It was a beautiful day and the water was clear and sparkling and lovely. But I'm guessing Xmas time will probably be a little colder!
Two little Shetland ponies sheltering from the snow, rugged up, surrounded by hay and plenty of straw - just like being home they told me.
I love taking the back roads because there is just so much more to see. I took this a couple days ago with my iPhone while driving home. It was cold, rainy and wet out so I just shot the photo from inside the car. I love trees this time of year.
