Captured in London, England, December 2024

Very cold in Florida today, so I'm wearing a warmer & longer skirt & slip with Black Leggs Sheer Energy Pantyhose.

Cataract Falls / Indiana

We had a wicked ice storm in Oklahoma this year. Perfect for picture taking with two exceptions: bad roads and no sunshine. Thankfully, the clouds cleared for a few hours between ice storms to risk life and limb for a few 'glass forest' type of pictures.

Don't you just love the way hobby photography turns disasters into photo-ops? I think it is starting to make me more optimistic somehow!

"And she don't want to go outside,

Tonight."

Something a little different today. I was going to do a self portrait for today, but decided against it in the end, as I think this idea was much, much better!

They're my best friends (for today).

I opted to stay home from work today because my cold was so bad this morning. I've been in bed all day, and that's hard for me to do. I like being up and doing things. I know I need this day to recover so that I can be healthy again and finish the rest of the work week.

Hope you're all having a better Wednesday than me!

From summer, through autumn and into winter in less than three days.

A chilly feel for the NMT as it passes on the down main through Rhyl station on 1Q30, a run that takes it from Derby, through Stoke-on-Trent, Crewe, Chester, Holyhead, Crewe and Liverpool twice to Crewe.

Powercars 43014 and 43062 make it look even colder than it is...

3 November 2016

We approach the autumn season after an extremely humid summer, and before the leaves drop off the trees, here's a post to think of cooler times.

Here is Conway Scenic Railroad's 'Snow Train' shuttle returning with the final excursion of the day from Attitash Mountain Resort, with EMD GP38 No. 255 taking the lead home.

255 is definitely no stranger to the Mountain Division, she was built in November of 1966 new for the Maine Central Railroad. After the MEC became part of Guilford Rail System, 255 was sent to the Clarendon & Pittsfield Railroad, and was renumbered to 203.

In autumn of 2021, it was announced the Conway Scenic had purchased the 203 from CLP, and the locomotive arrived on property in November of 2021. As a temporary fit, the engine was fitted out with the Maine Central logo on the nose and was renumbered back to 255.

Every sign seems to have just a slightly different take on what information is important.

This one reads (with some periods added to help read):

Cold Drinks - Ballarat - Info

This is a free zone. Take any kind of photos you want. Camp, party, make movies, etc. No harm. Nobody cares. Feel free, learn nothen setting in your car. The friendly zone. Welcome to Ballarat ghost town. Camping 3 dollars. This was the Post Office 1897. See the museum store. Trading post. History. Old Photos. Charle Mansons truck. Maps. Fire a gun.

((and not sure what the last line that seems to be scribbled out reads))

Cold War Kids started in 2004 in downtown Fullerton in guitarist/vocalist Jonnie Russell's apartment above a restaurant called Mulberry Street, whose name they would eventually use as the title of their first EP. The band relocated to Whittier, California and began recording their first demos, which Monarchy Music released as the Mulberry Street EP in spring 2005. Between tours, the band released two more EPs: With Our Wallets Full and Up in Rags, in 2006. In summer 2006, Cold War Kids signed to Downtown Records and released their debut LP Robbers & Cowards that fall.

No. 92 of 114 Pictures in 2014: 'something cold' .

"Air Raid" siren located near the intersection of Camden Avenue and Bose Lane in San Jose, California.

Located adjacent to San Jose Fire Department Station 22, this is just a block or so away from Simonds Elementary School, which I attended from second through sixth grades. I remember this siren being tested periodically. In those Cold War years, the sound was always chilling.

I have no idea whether this siren is still operable. It certainly hasn't had a coat of paint in many years.
