Norio knows he has the best spot in the house to stay cool on a muggy day. Or on a cold day, since the heater is very close by as well (we may need to use the heater next week, given the changing weather).

Sometimes all you need to do is to wait until you come across something, things just happen and align nicely.
I shot a roll of Ilford XP2 again, after a long while. I used it on the rather low and dull light, often present, when I was on the trip. I was not alone, so, there are always times you got to wait and usually your not in the mood or at the place you want to be to make photos. But I shot what caught my eye. (And yes, this is a Buddhist Tibetian Monastery).
If you scan XP2 you have the choice: treat it like CN film or b/w? I scanned it like color film and was a bit confused to get a duo-tone color rather than a single tint. It could be a fault of the scanner or my settings, but I found that quite interesting, this is really near to the kind of split toning I look for, often. All there more or less „random“ factors add up to frames, that I tend to like, really.

This is cold, Central Texas style. The bird bath is frozen over after two days of not getting above freezing.At least it had warmed up to about 23 F ( -5 C) when I took this shot. No snide comments from northerners suffering through subzero (F) temps please - this is way, way colder than we normally get. For 118 pictures in 2018, #78, "Cold".

Around Frankfurt, there's heaps of cold war relicts. helipads, rocket batteries or, like this, an old tank training ground. I'm not sure if, in retrospect, that all should have made me feel safe or worried...

From December 2017. A couple of barns and countryside in the cold gloom. Taken in color but I like them in black and white better.
To my surprise, the plants in our surrounding have these ice formations. Beautiful but cold autumn morning. Taken around 10:00AM this morning.

There is always good and bad in every one of us it just depends on how much of each we do have.
Ice
Taken on a chilly December morning just before the sun rose. The exposure time is 32 seconds, which was accomplished with a cheap-o ($14) variable neutral density filter. The filter only goes to about 6.5 stops before the "x of death" appears, so 32 seconds was all I could get with this while making sure to no blow out highlights.
A bit of editing helped bring out the colors and shadows to produce one of the best images I have taken all year.
