Cold now.
Close to the edge. Almost
unbearable. Clouds
bunch up and boil down
from the north of the white bear.
This tree-splitting morning
I dream of his fat tracks,
the lifesaving suet.
I think of summer with its luminous fruit,
blossoms rounding to berries, leaves,
handsful of grain.
Maybe what cold is, is the time
we measure the love we have always had, secretly
for our own bones, the hard knife-edged love
for the warm river of the I, beyond all else; maybe
that is what it means, the beauty
of the blue shark cruising toward the tumbling seals.
In the season of snow,
in the immeasurable cold,
we grow cruel but honest; we keep
ourselves alive,
if we can, taking one after another
the necessary bodies of others, the many
crushed red flowers.

"Cold Water"
Cold, cold water surrounds me now
And all I've got is your hand
Lord, can you hear me now?
Lord, can you hear me now?
Lord, can you hear me now?
Or am I lost?
Love one's daughter
Allow me that
And I can't let go of your hand
Lord, can you hear me now?
Lord, can you hear me now?
Lord, can you hear me now?
Or am I lost?
Cold, cold water surrounds me now
And all I've got is your hand
Lord, can you hear me now?
Lord, can you hear me now?
Lord, can you hear me now?
Or am I lost?

I think this is a Hermit Thrush on the feeder. Maybe House Finches in flight on either side of the feeder. Thank you for taking time from your busy day to view, fave and comment on my images. It is always appreciated!

As cold as it has been, the nights have been brutal! i was looking out the window the other evening and the chill went right through me without even being outside!
Yesterday it was 24f. i never thought i would say that it did not feel that bad! Of course the sun was shining brightly and there was no wind. Everything is relative, as they say!
I hope things are warming up where you are...and that someone, somewhere has had a little talk with Spring and mentioned that coming a wee bit earlier than the 30 days or so before it is scheduled to arrive would be very much appreciated. i really would like to see some color here soon!
Happy Mono Bokeh Thursday and one step closer to the weekend!
This is a copy from a photo in the earlier poted photos. For some reason, PICNIK would not open it and I had to finagle to get this photo in my stream to then download it to my computer and then that way I could enter it in a photo contest.
What a major ordeal!
Feeling cold? Hug a cat!
Cats solve so many problems! This big floofy kitty is from Violetpi on Etsy. This Blythe doll is Lovely Katherine’s Corner, wearing Hello Again Junie Moonie Cutie’s stock dress and bow (I know, most of it is hidden behind the kitty.) The kitty and the dress just arrived here, so this picture is for the theme “What’s new” in the Blythe Pure and Simple group on Facebook, as well as “Cold” in the Blythe a Day group on Flickr.
Freezing cold morning in December. Somewhere near Geldermalsen, Guelders.

Dry and colder this morning, approximately 19F.
No wind, no snow.
Keeping my toes and fingers crossed that we will get clear "core ice" this winter, and it looks promising for now.

I see a spiderweb at the bottom, wings outstretched on either side taking flight, and ivy emerging all across the top.
Frost formation between the panes of my patio door glass, that we only get to see when temperature outdoors dips to -40 or colder.
Last two mornings made it down to -42°F (-41°C).
This was a very cold july morning to shoot a sunrise but was well worth it because of the orange tones. First House on the left on the Hill is University Laval Arts Campus. Second house is inhabited and feels like a haunted house. There is a cemetery not very far from the houses and the cross. Sometimes, this all feels like the perfect Halloween spot.
Part of the enduring appeal of snowflakes is their intricate appearance and near infinite variation, meaning that all snowflakes are unique. The number of possibilities of nuances in temperature and humidity as the snowflake falls to the ground is limitless.
If you look closely at a Snowflake you will see countless individual features, all having formed ever so slightly differently in direction or shape owing to the slightest change in the environment in which it formed.
March '95 Cold, because this is a sea loch with sea water, frozen. Torridon Shore, Wester Alligin (Alligin Shuas). I loved the musical sound as the tide went out, of the "tinkling" cracking ice. Here the ice was wafer thin, but I've been here back in March '85, and photographed it much thicker, and the sound was completely different, though still heavenly musical.

I had read that a full moon a.k.a. a cold moon would rise tonight and, as my Flickr friend Lyle points out, it won't occur again for a number of years. I figure to be here for the next one although someone will probably have to point me in the right direction to shoot it. The shot isn't as sharp as I would like, but since it will be 20134 until the next one it will have to do :)
