A mountainside of aspens are reflected in the cool morning waters of North Lake. A skin of ice among the frost covered reeds catches the glow of a mountain peak.

Spectacular hoar frost conditions and a fiercely bitterly cold dawn breaks upon the frozen shoreline of Ullswater with the Duke of Portland boathouse catching the early light.
Experiencing such wonderful conditions as mist rolls down the lake made waiting around on Ullswater's shore in such bitter temperatures surprisingly bearable; actually quite enjoyable to be honest.

Now a cold and dry storage facility in Peterbrough Ontaro, this building was a Baskin-Robbins ice cream manufacturing plant between 1990 and 2010. Prior to that it was the site of Silverwood Dairies Ltd from 1940 to 1980.
Temperatures are now significantly below zero, Sunday it was frosty in combination with sunshine. A great time for hiking in the Vennebeck area, Ostwestfalen, Germany
Cold war era army uniform buttons from the US Army and the army of the Soviet Union for the Looking Close... On Friday group, challenge: Buttons.
Not often you see this much snow fall in Oz. Given it's just been about 42 degrees Celsius in Adelaide on February 10th 2017 I needed to remind myself that it does get cold in parts of Australia.
Cold but not as cold as the north of Sweden where they had -37.4 C the other morning and that being the coldest November day since 1980

Another shot from a quick five minutes on Rannoch Moor on the way home. It must have looked fantastic when the hard frosts first arrived. But you can't be everywhere at the same time ;) I'm off volunteering this morning so need to get ready. Cold Cold Ground is by Tom waits
A freight train rounds the corner on a dim winter afternoon along the icy Hudson River near Fort Montgomery, New York.
One of the last T-bird runs of 2017 bring with it bitter cold temperatures. The overnight night low was a cool -27 F but the daylight sun brought the air temp up a bit to -15 for this shot.
There is a thing referred to as cold of heart. Which would imply the lack of empathy or care for others, and not in a literal sense for a cybernetic heart?
The other way around you might find yourself looking through the glass of self-criticism and doubt when viewing the conscious mind of something that resembles a machine more than a biological being. Is that cold hearted or could compassion and empathy even evolve from the simplicity of a binary code. For a cybernetic being like General Grievous, who was more biological from the beginning, I could easily make the argument of him being a psychotic killer, as well as a freedom fighter and a hero. But as his heart once, before his demise, beat a steady rhythm, warm of blood, his views were/was as sound to him as my views are to me and I. Which I can say was the case after this shot came out of the camera. The General was thrilled and excited; he even landed a soft and gentle pat on the back, giving his approval for my efforts. I was glad to have brought the sensation of joy to his cybernetic being. I even thought for a moment that I saw him blush.
If you plan on keeping a kennel of 75 plus dogs, and also plan on entering the big races here in Alaska - you'd better like the cold. Just booting up your team for a training run, can numb up your fingers until you can hardly maneuver the Velcro needed to keep those booties on their little canine feet.
If you plan on taking out just 14 dogs, that means you will boot up 56 times. Brrrr . . .
*( The 20/21 Iditarod is scheduled to start on March 6, 2021 in Anchorage. As I write, Anchorage has plenty of snow - but who knows what kind of weather will hit between now and then. Keep tuned . . .)
