It transpires that this apartment has a serious problem with damp!
At this time of year, as autumn passes into winter, it’s suddenly become obvious that there’ll be several months during which no direct sunlight can enter the room, on account of its position at the rear of the house, on the ground floor, with a view only into the high-walled courtyard beyond. The resulting darkness, in conspiracy with the cold weather, means that none of the moisture in the air has any chance of evaporating, instead condensing on whatever surface it can find. A few droplets settling on the windowpane might well be expected, but when there’s water running down the walls as well as the glass it’s safe to say that there’s an issue; and when there’s plaster crumbling onto the floor, sodden and mouldy, perhaps something should even be done about it.

This was shot this spring at the Chicago Botanic Garden. The greenhouse sure was warmer than the frosty 8 degrees we have outside right now.

The last days were very cold for this place (Max. around 10ºC) and one of the most vulnerable insects are the honey-bees.
I found dozens of dead bees during this session .Although the bee is dead it was very difficult for me to take this photo due the windy condition so some of the photos came out shaken.

Was 25 degrees in sunny Florida. Brutal wind chill, and frost. This meal of piping hot angel hair pasta with alfredo sauce, delicious homemade bread with butter, and a crisp, flavorful salad with a house made vinaigrette set everything right again.
Did some more Christmas shopping today. Tired of the cold weather but at least I get to wear cute jackets and boots.
after went back to Taiwan, I do miss the cold weather in NYC a lot. even it was too cold to make me sick but it's totally fine.
I just updated the FM2 yesterday. it cost me some money but I was satisfying. the broken 50mm lens is recovered, the poor belt is changed, and it has a new lid for its lens now, even I brought a stuff for its viewfinder. I think it's happy now, bcuz it looks like a whole new one, and it got a new close-up lens couple days ago. I'm planning buying a long take lens later future, after that I think I'll stop buying anything for it. I should save money for the rock festivals and hang out with charlie this summer. spend money is good though, but friendship is most important thing of a human being like us.
so bring your fave cameras out with friends on weekend, don't spend too much time to watch tv at home or play online games! just take your pets out and call your friends you'll have fun time together!
happy weekend every visitors and friends!! :D
- film scan is not good, sorry about that.

This is some sort of mining bee (Andrena sp.) and a female. I've had some assistance from people much more versed in bees than myself, but we still have not definitive answer as to exact which species it is.
This girl was sitting on the bare rock in the cold weather of April 21th in Tyresta National Park (Spring can be quite cold up here in Sweden) and I assume the low temps helped me getting close in without here leaving.
All that soft fur was probably very useful that day though.
The sun was out on a chilly morning & she was taking advantage of that. The concrete would be the warmest place to soak up some rays. She was right below me as I looked over the fence.

Afrer whining on about the brutally long and cold winter, I hereby apologize. It has been *30C-35C in Ontario for the past 6 weeks. Enough already, give us some snow!
I don't know how Jennifer was able to take stand the cold. I hope she didn't catch something after our snowy shoot. :D

Cold weather this days! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...
I look at my sunny pictures and this is one of them.
I'm off to Vietnam.
See you later :)
Despite the cold weather we enjoyed a very pleasant walk around the local common this morning. The light was bright and soft and the sun tantalised us with it's potential appearance. I couldn't decide which picture to post so opted for a postcard of our walk.
... but a wharf!
The pic is a documentation of what the strong cold weather over time has achieved as the poles that hold the wharf has been raised by the frost in the ground and even in the water.
Take a look at my set called "The Wharf" to see what it also may look like in other seasons.
The cold weather
freezes me heart
but not my soul
My heart is gone
vanished
dead
But my soul stays
it breathes

Australia from an overseas perspective is not a country associated with snow but high in the mountains of Victoria Tasmania and southern NSW the landscape is converted into a winter wonderland in the winter's down under being from June to August with our springtime beginning next week, September. I, being a Queenslander where sun surf and tropical waters is the norm had not seen this area of Australia until last year when Flickr friends Leigh and Helen kindly accompanied me into the Victorian Alps.
Revisited this year with a fellow photographer in the hope of cross country skiing but alas as have one leg which will not work due to injury and permanent disability could not fulfil that particular dream. Could not turn the leg to stop the skis...LOL...aaah but could still get about with snow shoes, and for the first time in my life feeling quite inadequate as the more able bodied floated past, trudging along but bearing in mind the tortoise and the hare survived the snow experience. I was fortunate to be in the mountains during a snow fall which was magic and one I had not thought ever to experience in Australia.
This is a two portrait stitch and loved the idea of traipsing into the unknown. On the mountains are exclusive and expensive ski resorts but noticed at this drop off two hardy souls in their camper on the ledge overlooking this valley who would have spent the night watching the softly falling snow and opened their eyes to the most exclusive panorama of the mountains. No camping signs but I am with them and ignore where I can such restriction of liberty in our own land.
It is that time of the year to get out the extreme cold gear a new addition this year are the Heat source mittens. Yesterday they were put to the test for four hours in minus 30F cold weather here in Fairbanks Alaska. The quality and function of these mittens are top notch designed with photographers in mind.

Back to the cold weather as I think this could be a break through. The book says that this courtship process begins in spring and if so, we may be at the end of our 31/2 month deep freeze. Here's hoping.
Bring on the cold. This is how I dress for it. I feel so aroused getting a chance to wear my fur coat which is really warm and thigh high boots. Not to mention a thick, warm turtleneck and leather skirt. I just love it.
Finally had a little light today, albeit not sunlight, and Time!! Yay! :) Model No. 02—Collection 001
After the continuous snowfall last night, we had the first brief shroud in this winter season.
Date: November 19, 2018 07:51
Temperature: 0°C (32°F)
Mainly because I don't want to get dressed and free my butt off. I have 4 more sets that I took today and I will let you decide how you want them delivered since things are quiet in Winter.
Would you prefer:
A. Release all photos as they are taken (this has been the default).
B. Staggered posting to keep updates moderate.

Greetings to all my Flickr friends. What ever your religion, faith or atheism, mid winter is a time to celebrate with friends and family. This year I will be with my wife and Children.
wishing you all a great New Year and hopefully many photo opportunities.
Record-breaking Arctic cold weather has swept through much of the United States in the last few weeks. The eastern part of the country was particularly affected with thick snow blanketing most of the region, as this Copernicus Sentinel-3 image shows.
The harsh winter weather led to travel warnings, road closures and schools having to be shut. More than 100 million people were on windchill alert. Heavy snowfall officially ended the almost two-year-long absence of snow in cities such as New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington D.C, all of which are under a white mantle in this image, which was acquired on 17 January 2024.
The image spans South Carolina in the south, Maine in the north and Ohio in the west, with most of this vast area under snow.
In the top left corner, the land around Lake Erie and Lake Ontario is blanketed with snow, while thick cloud blocks most of our view over the lakes. The snow-clad Appalachian Mountains are clearly visible stretching across the image from southwest to northeast, almost drawing a separation line between the white landscape and the snow-free area in the bottom of the image.
Along the coast, different colours tint the ocean water. The colour variation is down to different concentrations of sediment and algae: light blue to green denotes a higher concentration and dark blue indicates deeper waters where suspended material is more dilute.
