Animal cognition exam today. Good thing I studied and did really well, because now I don't have to take the final! Woohoo!

This is a cheater picture of the christmas tree at 302. It is decorated with a boxing glove, a stuffed parrot, and a running shoe, among other objects. I like it. :)

People have been asking about corduroy, here it is. Other colors available, so ask if you're interested.

Out of stock.

My class had a great time exploring inside the pumpkin during our science//cognition lesson this afternoon.

A 15% increase in cognition would mean that my baby girl Paytyn could keep up with her older sister, who lights up Paytyn's world every time she enters the room. It would give my daughter the chance to experience all of the wonderful things that life has to offer with a much better focus and understanding. — Ashley, Marietta, GA

CogniFit Brain Training Assessment

I started this image with a photo of the 'thinking man'. I changed the hue and saturation to give it the different colors. I then added a feathered border around the edges. I also used a photo of an equation and placed that in the background of the photo of the 'thinking man'. With the text I used drop shadows, and also inner glow. I also used a new skill that I learned. I created a new layer and filled it with a light brown/white, but turned the opacity to almost none, to give the picture a lighter tone.

This volume presents a rare occasion where scholars from Europe, North Africa and North America share their research programs and findings revolving around an important theme: integration. Despite different research foci and methodologies, there is a strong consensus that we need to understand a psychological phenomenon in all its complexity, involving its neural, psychological, and social dimensions, involving perception and conception, and decision processes, involving motivation, emotion, and cognition -- all in complex interaction. This volume is intended to reach out to basic and applied psychological researchers, cognitive and affective scientists, learning scientists, biologists, sociologists, neuropsychological researchers, and philosophers, who have an interest in an integrated understanding of the mind at work, particularly pertaining to explanations of real-life phenomena that have social and practical significance. A distinct feature of this volume is that most research involved is heavily built on neuropsychological evidence, while loyal to the experimental tradition with its focus on functional behavior in various situations and conditions that mimic or resemble real life. The viability of this approach to doing cutting-edge research that is relevant and applicable to many real-life phenomena should also make this body of research useful for a wide range of human endeavor, from religion, education, to industrial and organizational psychology.

Olga: 'You stop thinking, you just look at the piece of foam and you try to make it beautiful, you cut. Sometimes you slice something, and then another thing, and ou-u-u-p-p-p something is there. And you think:"Oh, that's interesting"; it's there. Of course we always have a sense of what Rem would like, but when you cut you no longer know what you like in advance.'

There's [coffee] coming out of my cup!

The things I do when I have free time available (although really, I ought to be studying for my Cognition final).

I was wandering outside the condo around Sunnyvale and noticed a hockey practice going on. This is for a league. I think it's just 13-18 year olds (although I can't skate worth a damn anyway). I asked if I could take some shots, and they said sure. The teams were a bit shorthanded due to summer vacations, so there weren't any goalies. To compensate somewhat, they were only counting goals if you hit the crossbar or the posts.

BTW, this didn't end up as a goal. He passed up the bad angle shot (presumably out of habit, because taking it makes more sense when there's no goalie) and skated behind the net.

I used Picasa to convert to black and white and add film grain. I think Picasa stripped the EXIF data, so FYI, it was shot at 1600 ISO in shutter priority mode at 1/1000 sec. Aperture was 2.8. I think I'm going to practice a bit and sign up for more sports assignments in the fall.

while in seattle, i conducted a little experiment and lived on east-coast time the entire week -- going to bed at 9a local, and getting up at 3a local.

i discovered my cognition was substantially better at 3a -- even before coffee and fruit, but by noon (local) i was pooped!
