In May 2018 I was invited as artist on board on Kleronia, a 18 mt. cutter, in team with a video maker, a writer and a few skippers, to support the “Cognition in the wind” research project directed by Roberto Casati (Institut Jean Nicod, CNRS ENS EHESS, Paris). We navigate between Rome, the Pontine Islands and Gaeta. Watch a video here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TpY-AeXRNk

only makes me think more. stupid meta-cognition.

Smokers trying to quit often light a cigarette to deal with strain up. Today an interdisciplinary staff of Yale scientists has shown that a medication authorized for managing hypertension that enhances cognition and reduces tension, guanfacine, exhibits promise like a smoking cessation

For many scientists, “sensing” is the final endpoint of numerous pathways of cognition; for philosophers, it has often been the first step in the process of reason itself. Current debates center on whether neuroscience can understand cognition if the subject is constituted through an ongoing negotiation with stimulus grasped by a moving and active body, in which one signal is constantly checked against another, rather than the long-cherished binaries of excitation/inhibition, push/pull, or on/off. In short, some theorists assert that much thinking goes on outside the skull. This session explored the scientific and cultural basis for prodigious feats of muscle memory, bodily thinking, on-the-spot decision making, and human action.

Der Mythus ist die unvermeidliche und unerlässliche Zwischenstufe zwischen dem Unbewussten und der bewussten Erkenntnis.

The myth is the unavoidable and indispensable interstage between the unconscious and the conscious cognition.

Poster for my final project in Creativity and Design Cognition. I wanted to address the issue of translation in terms of visual experiences. For example, how do we relate something we see in our mind to someone else so that they can replicate that image in the physical world. I decided to explore this issue through dream analysis. So I had 6 people describe a dream to me and then I tried to capture the visual and emotive aspects of that dream in a "memento". I ended up going in a very abstracted direction. The mementos were created in a 3D modeling program and then printed on a 3D printer. The final objects were fairly successful at capturing the dream (according to the feedback) but the main limitations were the material choice (color and texture) and the fact that the people who I designed the objects for were only able to see the object through images and not in person.

Conference on distributed cognition and the the post-human mind, hosted (perhaps unwittingly) by The Swedenborg Society -- a group dedicated to the legacy of Swedish inventor, lucid dreamer and mid-life Christian mystic, Emmanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772).
