Watching the Northwestern Wildcats defeat the Boise State Broncos in the NCAA basketball playoff. I think it was the mug that did it.
I have just been reading on Dario's food photography blog about using the light from a south facing window in preference to north or west facing (I have been using a north facing window in the mornings), so I thought I would give it a go this afternoon. BUT, of course this will depend on whether you live in the northern or southern hemispheres - Dario lives in Sydney, Australia in the southern hemisphere - like I do in Western Australia. Hmmm...a question for him!
Nothing outstanding about this shot, just testing the south facing window. ISO was 800 and white balance set to shade.
I will give it another go another day with something a bit more creative. In the meantime, anyone for afternoon coffee and shortbread?

ODC - HOT BEVERAGE - Monday 15th to 21st January 2024 - Got this coffee mug in Death Valley about 15 yrs ago and got Wiley, Pogo and Clementine in Quartzsite, Az, we are stuck home on the Washington coast this winter due to rv problems, so I am trying to keep busy lol. Can't go anywhere when your slides on the rv don't work!
I painted 4 coffee mugs, 1 sugar pot and a milk jar for my friend, to say thank you for coming such a far way for a quick visit.
I made a cow thank you card to go with it. She really likes her cows all over the house.
I quite liked this and would do it again as a gift for someone.
My morning cuppa (ok, I had it in the afternoon...) in one of my favorite mugs (my mom got it at some conference she went to). Of course in light of this page, I'm not sure I like to think about my brain under the influence of caffeine...
I haven't worked in almost 2 years, but starting Sept. 2nd, I will be taking a three month full time position in a local school department filling in for a speech pathologist who will be on maternity leave. The $$$ is very good....and we need it ! So, Mon-Fri, I will be getting up at 5:30AM and returning home after 4PM. Mercifully, the job will end by Thanksgiving. The cash will be used for major improvement projects...and maybe I'll set some aside to buy a macro lens !
I was really fatigue this morning due to several activities the day before.
Not only consuming my energy physically but also mentally...
So, all I need was a booster.....a vitamin!!!
Story behind the mug :
I bought this mug at Pasar Seni ITB (ITB Art Fair) which held in a 4 year cycle around Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) campus. I forgot what year I bought this one. I think it's from 2006.
The last art fair was held on 10-10-2010.
The writing on the mug says "bukan minuman keras". It means "not liquor".
