The Deceiver Fly is a classic saltwater baitfish streamer popularized by Lefty Kreh has caught fish for years and continues to produce all around the world. This Black Deceiver fly is a muti-purpose baitfish pattern that has proven effective on almost any saltwater species. Several colors and sizes should be in every fly box even for those anglers going after some of the more predatory freshwater species.
When we moved the closet doors from the garage, we found some incriminating evidence. There were hundreds, I wonder how many roaches came from each?
Two words I never thought I'd bring together... beautiful cockroach (as yet unidentified see below) found in the alpine dune system near Lake Augusta, Central Highlands, Tasmania.
This was pretty stunning and my pictures don't really do it credit.

Interesting news: This apparently is a Polyzosteria species, possibly Polyzosteria viridissima or even an undescribed species?
Update: A February 2021 paper has found that this is an endemic species to Tasmania, Polyzosteria yingina.

This one is a female, and seems to be content perched on my forehead. I think it likes to bask in the warmth of my skin.
The name that has long been used to refer to the numerous Asian tuna catchers that operate out of Cape Town.
Loads of these in the jungle. They probably are not as dirty as the ones in the city but still not really nice to find these in your bed.

it took a while to take this shot - cockroaches normally run when they feel vibrations. these guys where pretty drunken after a while.
the flash adulterates the colours - but I quite like the effect.

More of the human cockroaches. In this area of Shanghai, garbage bins are placed in the rear of bldgs, which are then collected and dumped into alleys. People like this guy shown then pick thru the garbage. This guy was picking anything that had meat on it, and placing it onto a plate. I did not ask him why: and I hope not for human consumption. But others re-use wasted cooking oil for human consumption, so one cannot be sure how this guy re-used the wasted meats. 2011

These guys look like the German cockroach that invades homes, but these prefer the outdoors. That is one way you tell them apart it seems. The other ways are that they are attracted to light and fly. These guys are helpful to farmers as pest killers.
Cockroaches are found in the forest too. Some can be quite pretty!
