My neighbour Ken founded Ashleigh Signs, now an International signage company. Look at The Savoy and Hilton Hotels in London and thats an example of their work.www.ashleighsigns.co.uk/gallery/ Ken took me down to look around the premises and I got a few shots.

They may have a bit of an ice coating on this morning but what a seat this tree family has to welcome in each new day! From High Point State Park, the appropriately named highest spot in New Jersey, 1 January 2020, about 5 1/2 minutes after sunrise. A couple of days before I took this there was a storm that left about a 3/4 inch ice coating on all the trees but not the roads, made for an interesting look!

Remarks: Tuesday morning December 29th, 2020 Amtrak P42DC number 161 leads the California Zephyr train number 5 seen here climbing to tunnel 1 on the Moffat Subdivision. 15 minutes earlier this entire scene was blanketed in a thick fog; the remnants of the previous nights snow event. Light snow fell over most of the Front Range overnight leaving a light coating of snow just enough for a winter scene worth capturing.

This was probably my favourite outing during my trip to the Faroe Islands, probably because of the unexpected photographic opportunities. I set off hiking up Slættaratindur from the high pass of Eiðisskarð and could see the summit shrouded in fog and a fresh coating of snow, but continued nonetheless. On the ascent I encountered a Danish couple who said they'd attempted the summit but gave up due to poor visibility and treacherous conditions. Being the stubborn person I am, I continued to see for myself.

Personally, I didn't find much difficulty throughout the ascent, but there again I'm used to winter conditions on the mountains at home. There were a couple of scrambling sections nearing the summit, but nothing worse than I'd attempted beforehand. And I'm so glad I made the decision to continue as the views were incredible.

This is the 3rd country high point I've conquered after Iceland's Hvannadalshnjúkur and Norway's Galdhøpiggen, but certainly my personal favourite in terms of photography mainly due to the epic conditions. The mountain fog was swirling around the summit, revealing glimpses of the view in all directions. This is the view looking east towards Funningsfjørður.

The name Slættaratindur literally translates as "flat summit”, and although from a distance and during the ascent it seems a misleading title, on reaching the top the name becomes apparent as it is certainly more spacious than expected, albeit with steep drops on all angles.

And yes, I need to clean my windows.

I discovered a new Phenomenon on Monday, January 4, 2021, while taking photo images around the outside of my home in Dubuque, Iowa. I admit I had never heard of Rime Ice/Frost before which is a white ice that forms when the water droplets in fog freeze to the outer surfaces of objects. It is often seen on tree tops atop mountains and ridges in Winter, when low-hanging clouds cause freezing fog. Officially the weather service defines rime ice as "an opaque coating of tiny, white, granular ice particles caused by rapid freezing of supercooled water droplets on impact with an object. These next images were taken on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 when the beautiful sunshine was shimmering off the Rime Ice/Frost before it all melted away. Sad but this is a familiar sight that can be seen in many other large cities...

This staircase leads to the lake view at Sheboygan's Blue Harbor Resort. During a non-pandemic summer many wedding ceremonies focus on it. In winter months, it's not used very often. I took this photo before our artic air arrived.
