You could have knocked me over with a feather when I spotted this northern leopard frog out sunning along the Mississippi River shoreline! Notice the ice crystals coating its head as the air temperature was barely above freezing. Talk about tough!

This is one of my favorite trees and it looks even better with a dusting of snow.. It's in Slocan Park.
It's all about being in the right place at the right time and I was glad to choose this trail up Plateau Mountain in the Catskills on a perfect winter day.
The temperature has remained mostly below 0C for the last 3 days. It's good in that it has firmed up the muddy ground and has coated the trees and bushes with a thin layer of ice
Beautiful but deadly, ours was one of the 90,000 homes in southern Ontario losing power, during a massive ice storm in the early hours of Good Friday. Some areas received over an inch of ice build up.
