I was really hoping one of the Northern Cardinals would perch in just the right spot for a yellow or orange background like the Nuthatches had been doing, but they refused to cooperate. I liked the eye-contact of this bird regardless. Soon I'll be photographing them more much more often I think. Hennepin County, MN 10/24/20

Year after year I cannot escape the fascination of the floating "stars" on the Tiergarten pond.

And sometimes even the light cooperates :-)

This was a drive-by shooting...camera not gun. It is a monument in Bahrain that really grabbed my eye. The sky was not cooperating so I helped it with Photoshop

When the weather outside doesn't cooperate with my need to take photos, I just head to the closets in my house. There are always treasures worth studying and appreciating their special features. This dinosaur image is a favorite of mine.

The bee partially cooperated with me and posed nicely!

Is this a wild allium?

Early morning light, a small crowd, with the lion cooperating in helping to select the backdrop for the photo.

A slight break in the low clouds illuminates the head end of the Southbound QSTOATG6-04 at the famous Tehachapi Loop.

I should be outside shooting but the weather and scenery are still not cooperating......Farch (The dreadful months of Feb and March) has extended into April. The next week will be cold and rainy and snowy.

Idyllic landscapes are not only found in the distance, of course, but also in my beautiful homeland of Saxony, and especially in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.

And this is also evident when the sun isn't cooperating and the sunset is obscured by clouds and haze. The latter, of course, means that I'll be coming here at least one more time in the hope of better lighting conditions.

What you see here, by the way, is Saupsdorf, another district of my new hometown of Sebnitz. From up here, you have (normally) a beautiful view over Saxon Switzerland, all the way to the Schrammsteine on the left and mount Lilienstein to the right of center.

Just about sums it up. Fox family has been providing lots of entertainment and photo opportunities.

This poor papa fox kept trying to nap in the sun but the kits weren’t cooperating!

The daily CN transfer takes the Foley Wye off of the Withrow Subdivision making its move closer to the BNSF T Yard. I appreciate the sun and clouds for cooperating while the train rounded the corner.

Thank you for cooperating with the shooting with a smile.

The day of our tour of Évora the weather did not cooperate and it rained the entire time. Photographed the Roman Temple of Évora (Temple of Diana) 1st century A.D. in the center square in the City of Évora in Central Alentejo Alentejo Portugal

Sometimes it is quite difficult to get animals to cooperate and sit for a family portrait but when they do, it is pretty neat.

I always have hard time with these as they are so small. This one cooperated nicely and even jumped toward the camera lens :-)

I spotted this heron standing on a driftwood log yesterday morning, before the sun rose at the Cowichan Bay estuary. I carefully got into position, then sat and waited for the sun to break over the mountain, hoping it would light the heron and his log but leave the background in shade. I sat and watched for about half an hour, and was rewarded with this image.I love it when subjects and light cooperate!

I had good luck getting a nice Christmas Day portrait of Ripley. I'm still working on getting one of Boo - but she is not cooperating.

Cosmos, a favorite flower. Have a seed packet all ready... if our "spring" weather would only cooperate!

We thought we'd spend the whole weekend outside but the usually mild Santa Barbara weather did not cooperate. So we made tie-dye clothes, decorated cookies, held a dance party in the garage.

Union Pacific's Marsh Job eases into the National Warehouse spur to retrieve an empty boxcar from the classic 1891-bulit multistory brick warehouse that has somehow weathered the surrounding gentrification, and even more remarkably still receives carload shipments by rail. Service to National Warehouse is a bit sporadic, and well knowing that I decided to take an extra two days ahead of my initially planned trip to increase my odds - which proved necessary, as they pulled this day one of my visit, and nothing else showed up for at least the next two weeks. With the engine unusually facing North, I was able to get a much different perspective on the scene, and the weather cooperated for it nicely. Milwaukee, WI

For ten minutes or so, as the sun began to set, the light would find its way between the side of our house and the fence. I would wait, hoping that a feathered friend would perch in the right spot. This House finch cooperated nicely.

Though it looks like all the other pygmy-owls, the Cloud-forest Pygmy-Owl has a distinct double-note song and occurs only in a very narrow elevation range in western Colombia and Ecuador where it is quite rare. We were ecstatic to locate a bird just off the side of the road that cooperated for pictures. Montezuma Road, Tatamá National Park, Colombia

Jumping Spider

I see a lot of this species with the darker colouring but they rarely sit long enough for a shot.. This one cooperated today.

An eagle looks on while I tried to take a place high enough for this frame to look ok.......the bird cooperated by staying there and posing for me

I ventured into the dark desert in search of the Neowise Comet. I was determined this pre-dawn morning! But the weather didn't cooperate. Clouds in the sky. :(

A burst of color to make your day. Often, when photographing, you wish for a bird to land in a colorful setting and today a warbler cooperated.

With word that the 867 is out and about leading ore trains again I thought back to a nice memory at Conneaut when the sun and train cooperated. Here 867's sister leads two tunnel motors and the 867 along Conneaut Creek.

Harris’s Hawks the most social of North American raptors, these birds cooperate at nests and hunt together as a team. When hunting, a group of hawks surround their prey, flush it for another to catch, or take turns chasing it. This hawk's social nature and relative ease with humans has made it popular among falconers and in education programs.

What a delight not only to see one Harris’s Hawk but 5 of them.

I was hoping for more reflection, the ice wasn't cooperating with me.

A perfect pose from a perfect Butterfly. This Eastern Tiger Swallowtail cooperated nicely.

Masai giraffe (Giraffa tippelskirchi) at the Pittsburgh Zoo in Pittsburgh, PA.

New upload of an unused photo because the current weather's not cooperating for Smile on Saturday's "Clouds" challenge.

The birds haven't been cooperating the last couple of days when I've tried to get a shot but I finally got this robin today - just before the weather changed and the rain poured down.

Well, I had no cooperating weather for the peak night of the Perseid Meteor Shower, but did manage a few lightning strike photos. Here is one captured on August 11, 2016 looking west. The bright light on the left was from the moon trying to break through the clouds.

Tech Specs: Canon 6D, Samyang 14mm, ISO 500, 30 second exposure, f/5, tripod mounted.

The backyard patio is a great place to get shots, especially when the hummingbirds cooperate and feed on the flowers.

Thank you for taking a look at my images. It is most appreciated.

Some days they cooperate. The teal did but the Swamp Sparrow did not.

Sutro Baths, San Francisco, CA.

This is supposed to echo down from about AD63 or 64 when Boudicca sacked Verulamium, the Roman City and which was built over Verlamion, the Catuvellanian town, a tribe that cooperated with the Romans after the invasion. Boudicca was from the Iceni, who also for a while cooperated, but then rebelled... I am just rather taken by the history, but this woman would probably be appalled that I had her here as my model for Boudicca!

CN L307 approaches Gobbles Road as the sun tried to help me but the clouds did not want to cooperate. CN 5701 and CN 5707 had their train of 50 towers well in check.

The clouds didn't really cooperate, but otherwise, a lovely evening.

One male seems to be hanging around now. He was competing with a male Calliope Hummingbird - the first I have ever seen here at home, a male Rufous, and about 10 Anna's yesterday afternoon. The Calliope did not cooperate for (decent) photos, and so far has not returned.

North Peak, Cuyamaca Mountains, California.

Finally, after a few days of clouds and rain, the sun cooperated this afternoon.

I had several chances to photograph the pied kingfisher while it was hovering but I wasn't satisfied with any of them. Either the light was bad, the bird was simply too far away, distracting background, it was always something.

Our last day this guy finally cooperated a bit. Thank you!

Nairobi, Kenya

Standing on a table beneath a shelter. It was dark there. So I slowed it down to 1/60th. The subject cooperated nicely by standing nice and still!

The strings and light cooperated to make a mini bokeh symphony.

802 and 2102 form quite the tram on this warm and humid evening.

Thank you to Michael T. Burkhart and Steve Barry for the evening lights, and mother nature for cooperating with us.

On the last morning of my work conference in Minneapolis, I woke early and was delighted to find the sky finally cooperating. All week it had been overcast or raining, but now a few scattered clouds promised a sunrise worth seeing. The remnants of night still lingered - the street lamps on the bridge glowed warmly - while the sky slowly began to radiate in soft oranges. I made my way to the banks of the Mississippi River, across from downtown, where the Third Avenue Bridge stretched gracefully toward the city.

The river was calm, holding the bridge and skyline in a near-perfect mirror, a “second city” floating just below the surface. In that moment, it was simply quiet: the sound of the water, the cool morning air, and the quiet hum of hymns in my head. Later, a friend commented that the reflections made it look like a whole other world beneath the surface, an imaginary place that’s hidden but waiting to be discovered and explored. That thought stayed with me, adding another layer to the image and the reflections from this moment.

I shot this at 20 mm, f/14, ISO 100, slowing the shutter to 0.6 seconds to smooth the water without losing detail in the reflections. Afterward, I looped across the Stone Arch Bridge and wandered the walking paths between the river and the city streets. By the time I returned, I knew this image - the still water, the bridge leading to the city, and the first light of day - would be my favorite from the trip.

Full moon plans didn't cooperate due to my slight miscalculation of where we needed to be located in relation to the moon rise. Right place, right location - almost! Still captured a great sunset.

Moonlight Spire is the tower peeking over the edge of the canyon to the right of the butte in the center.

While waiting for moonrise a lone motorcycle rider appeared, having just survived the rocky and rutted Shafer Canyon Road from Canyonlands NP. He stopped and asked if the road is asphalt into Moab. I was immediately struck by the quantity of goods strapped to his 125cc Honda motorcycle. We chatted while he put air into his tires for the trip to Moab. He had everything he needed to travel the world on his bike: spare tire, spare rim, all manner of camping gear, air compressor, tools. I don't know how he managed to get it all attached and leave room for himself.

His name is Thomas Kaczmarczyk, from Australia. He is on his journey to travel the world on his motorcycle, and when needed, four wheels. An interesting character, very confident and capable, and very friendly. On You Tube and Facebook he is known as Tom on a Budget if one is interested in following his travels. Last i heard he is now in south America.

Unsure of the name of this moth but it cooperated for a long time. It's textures and colors are unique !!
