Located near the Western Australian Botanic Garden entrance, the floral clock features Australian plants as roman numerals and is surrounded by a range of Western Australian native plants. In spring the clock and surrounding beds burst into colour with a spectacular sample of the botanic garden's most colourful annual and perennial blooms.

Originally unveiled in 1962, Kings Park's beloved Floral Clock was built because of a bequest from Western Australian pastoralist Mr F Wittenoom.

Over the years, the blooming timepiece has been relocated and updated from its initial incarnation in a traditional cuckoo clock style and Swiss Chalet outside the former tearooms, to its present design opposite the entry to the Western Australian Botanic Garden.

In 2022, the clock was given a modern makeover debuting new aluminium hands decorated with work from Western Australian artist Emma Blyth. The custom-made artwork features banksias, red-tailed black cockatoos, and Western Australia’s floral emblem - the red and green kangaroo paw - capturing the natural beauty of local flora and fauna.

Historic Hotel Besserie, known as la maison Nicot.

"It is the superb doorway the tourists are interested in, but equally interesting is the fact whose house this used to be. Here was born M. Jean Nicot (1530–1600), who introduced tobacco to France. Nicot, nicotine… yes, the same man. In 1559 he was sent to Portugal as the French ambassador to negotiate the marriage of the Portuguese King and a French princess, and when he came back to France, he brought some tobacco with him. It was not smoked at the time, but used as a medicine for relaxing ones nerves. Catherine de Medici loved tobacco, and so it became popular at the court, which made M. Nicot a wealthy and well-known man."

La tour de l'horloge:

The Nîmes clock tower is a 31 meter high clock tower in the historic center of the city of Nîmes, in the Gard department and the Occitanie region. The current building was rebuilt from 1752 to 1754, in place of an older 15th century belfry. The summit terrace supports an elegant wrought iron bell tower in the shape of a crown enclosing the hour bell.

Spent last weekend in Strandhill with the brother-in-law and sister-in-law.Colm is big into woodwork and started wood turning in the last few years. He made this clock for his daughter. He shapes small pieces of wood(I think Walnut) into a disc shape and glues them together, then builds up the layers. He lost count of the number of pieces he used but reckons it is over a thousand. There are three sections, the base, main body and the head.
