The Clinical Skills Center provides opportunities for students to learn in settings that are similar to areas in which they will practice.
The Clinical Skills Center includes a Ready Room, 10 Large Exam Rooms, Six Small Exam Rooms, a Hospital Suite and two Simulation Suites.
Students will hone their skills by working with high-tech, life-size mannequins that breathe, speak and bleed. With computer programming, the mannequins -- complete with heartbeats, pulses and lung and bowel sounds -- also exhibit symptoms of disease and react to treatment.
Research shows that patient simulators enhance patient safety by providing students realistic learning opportunities that boost confidence and skill proficiency. The clinical skills lab will improve the clinical skills of students and enhance multidisciplinary training.
Students also will practice on live simulated patients, or people who are trained by UNMC to emulate real-life situations that clinicians will encounter.
Each room is equipped with two video cameras and a microphone that provides digital video and audio recording and playback capability for teaching and critiquing students. Two rooms have one-way mirrors for observation. An intercom system aids communication between faculty and students.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon launched plans for the Scottish Trauma Network, at Ninewells Hospital.
An additional £5 million will be allocated in 2017, to accelerate progress on the development of the new network.
It will be based around four major trauma centres in Aberdeen, Dundee, Glasgow and Edinburgh – with a view to benefiting around 6,000 of Scotland’s seriously injured patients each year

Adjacent on the down slow is a Freightliner headed by 47224 which had failed and was waiting for rescue by 47212.
Note that the timber sleepers are still in place for a line that has been lifted.
Rugby really was a great place to spend a day and had a slightly decaying, downtrodden feel to it - once an important junction station with no less than seven routes diverging/converging and of course the Great Central which ran over the WCML via the "birdcage" bridge at the Southern end.
It had a Cathedral like atmosphere with its overall roof (albeit missing the majority of its glazing). I loved to escape from my failing marriage and spend time waiting for the next train to arrive. In between trains when it was quiet, you could hear the sparrows cheeping and the quiet bustle of staff and passengers going about their business.
There was also a significant works/steam shed, and also the Testing Station. (removed in the sixties)
On the Northern approaches, the up yard provided plenty of movements, into and out of the station shuffling long rakes of 4 wheelers...
Modernisation and the WCML upgrade swept all this away. Now its clinical, straight, boring and corporate. Bollocks to progress.
