Well what started as a very rough and beaten C3 is now a usable unit .Bought this from an on line auction ,In the photo it looked aweful and when it arrived it was. The best part looked to be the lens ,the controls were stiff ,the shutter sticking , the slow speeds well they were slow and the glass was full of dust and fungus could be seen . Three evenings work cleaning out rubbish and dirt a liitle lube here and there and presto the lens works as designed.
The beat up old camera body i decided was beyond help ,well that was till I got bored on Saturday from watching the rain coming down and my attention turned to this poor old camera and I decided well I have nothing to loose so I stripped it down to the bare bones and made an assestment and plan of attack .
A sort though my box of broken camera gear produced the many missing springs ,screws and washers , paneled out the side covers and gave them a coat of crinkle finish black , stain black for the film door and the rest was washed and clearfully cleaned with a tooth brush and spray and wipe cleaner
Sunday was spent lubricating the film winder mech and getting the counter to move, A one cent coin filled the space in the lens unlocking knob. Adjusted the veiw screen with shims to get the focus correct and a very slow reassembly .
Just two things to finish, the film door seals and find a view hood or suitable prism finder.
All in all I am pleased with my occupational therapy and with a bit of luck this will end up a good usable unit.
