The last time that I photographed 57304 was last month when it still had its 'Gordon Tracy' nameplate, but it is pictured here at Newcastle Central on March 13th 2012, on 'Thunderbird' duty for the night-time Pendolino trials.
When newly refurbished in late 1985/early 1986, Class 37/4 no 37428 was allocated to Cardiff Canton and subsequently named David Lloyd George. However, by the mid-1990s the loco had migrated north to Scotland and became a regular working first out of Inverness then on the West Highland. I had it several times into and out of Fort William, the first time as seen on 8 June 1995.

Class 37 37038
The Class 37 became a familiar sight on many parts of the British Rail network, in particular forming the main motive power for Inter-City services in East Anglia and within Scotland. They also performed well on secondary and inter-regional services for many years. The Class 37s are known to some railway enthusiasts as "Tractors",[2] a nickname due to the agricultural sound of the diesel engine of the locomotive.
A class 86 passes Shenfield with an express from Norwich to Liverpool Street. I think this was soon after electric working had been introduced on these trains, initially on the London-Ipswich section (thanks to Allen of Essex for the info). Electric locos on the GE - a real novelty...

Pattadakal, school class
Pattadakal also spelled Pattadakalu is a World Heritage site, a village and an important tourist centre on the left bank of the Malaprabha River in the state of Karnataka, India. It is close to Badami and Aihole, both of which are well known for Chalukya monuments.
Pattadakal, place for Chalukyas Coronation, was the capital of the Chalukya dynasty of Karnataka in Southern India. The Chalukyas built many temples here between the 7th and 9th century. There are ten temples including a Jain sanctuary surrounded by numerous small shrines and plinths in fusion of various Indian architectural styles (Rekha, Nagara, Prasada and Dravida Vimana). Four temples were built in Chalukya Dravidian style, four in Nagara style of Northern India and the Papanatha temple in mixed style. Nine Shiva temples and one Jaina basadi, situated along the northern course of the River, which is considered as very auspicious according to Holy Scriptures.
