First main line diesel-electric locomotive which made its debut in Malaya in 1957. A total of twenty-six locomotives were manufactured by English Electric Co at Vulcan Foundry, United Kingdom. In its roughly thirty years of service, the 20 Class hauled both the passenger express and freight between Singapore and Malaysia. All twenty-six 20 Class locomotives were named after flowers. The last 20 Class was decommissioned in the early 1990s.
This MR 20 Class model is controlled by a PFx Brick, powered by 1x PF L-motor with lights (2x headlights and 4x side lights) and sounds.
The toughest part hands down was the decals.. more specifically the lettering on the side which is 'Malayan Railways' in Bahasa Melayu. My decal shop had each letter made separately which means I had to meticulously place them along the body. The nose stripes were finicky to handle but sticks on perfectly.
With all these models completed, I thought it would be a good time to have a 'photoshoot'. Taken after the Singapore Brickfest 2021.

I always feel like I'm conducting some sort of a class when I'm in the kitchen. The cats are always underfoot and sitting so pretty and attentive.
I love Vash's snaggletooth.

Class 58's were always rare in North Wales. However in 1985 a new coal flow started from Toton to Garston Docks on Merseyside. As the Speke Junction men were not trained on the Class 58's a number of crew training turns ran to Llandudno Jct from Speke Jct. 58016 is seen here heading back to Merseyside on one such turn and passes Mostyn on the 21st of August. Note the large number of hopper wagons, used for carrying sulphur to Amlwch, in the background.

With 56D Mirfield shed to the side to remind us steam had only just come to an end, Crewe-based English Electric Type 4 D212 Aureol (later 40012) speeds straight towards the camera with this mixed freight bound for the Calder Valley line and Lancashire. The engine survives today in preservation. A full page photograph is featured in RAIL Issue 970 (published November 16th, 2022).

47348 rounds the curve between Skelton Junction and Deansgate Junction with a loaded ICI working from Tunstead to Northwich. This view has not been achievable here for many years as the grassy area is now completely overgrown with some rather tall trees. 1986.
A lucky day on 3 July 1998 as 47475 arrives at North Blyth on the empties from Fort William, which had stabled overnight at Bedlington (this was a Sunday). 47s were very rare on this service and this was the only time I ever saw one.

Gone is the drab brownish purple in favour of something that pops that bit more! I will probably come to miss seeing this livery in a few years time, but these units were definitely in need of a refurbishment!
