Don't you wish you were

Be a good boy and don't
trouble your mum.
With love from

Clacton-on-Sea
Clacton-on-Sea is the largest town in the Tendring peninsula in Essex, England, and was founded as an urban district in the year 1871. It is a seaside resort that saw a peak of tourists in the summer months between the 1950's and the 1970's.
The town's economy continues to rely significantly on entertainment and day-trip facilities, and it is strong in the service sector, with a large retired population.
In 1936, Billy Butlin bought and refurbished the West Clacton Estate, an amusement park to the west of the town. He opened a new amusement park on the site in 1937, and then, a year later on 11 June 1938, opened the second of his holiday camps.
This location remained open until 1983 when, due to changing holiday tastes, Butlins decided to close the facility. It was then purchased by former managers of the camp who reopened it as a short-lived theme park, called Atlas Park. The land was then sold and redeveloped with housing.
The First Airplane Flight in Russia
So what else happened on the day that Aunty Maud posted the card?
Well, on the 15th. September 1909, Pilot Georges Legagneux made the first airplane flight in Russia, demonstrating the French-built Voisin biplane at the Khodynka Field near Moscow.
A Patent Infringement
Also on that day, the Ford Motor Company was held to have infringed an 1895 patent held by inventor George B. Selden.
Selden had founded the Association of Licensed Automobile Manufacturers, and had required all automakers to receive an ALAM license.
After ALAM denied a license to Henry Ford in 1903, Ford Motor manufactured the automobiles anyway, and was sued.
The judgment, by federal judge Charles M. Hough, enjoined Ford Motor from further manufacture of automobiles, but was reversed on January 11, 1911, by an appellate court. The ALAM did not pursue the injunction further.
Yuma Territorial Prison
Also on the 15th. September 1909, the Yuma Territorial Prison was closed after 33 years.
Located in the desert of Yuma, Arizona, the federal prison had housed convicts from across the nation in temperatures that gave it the nickname of the American "Devil's Island".

Prince Jazzbo
So what else happened on the day that the card was posted?
Well, on the 3rd. September 1951, Linval Roy Carter was born. He was a Jamaican reggae and dance hall DJ and producer, better known as Prince Jazzbo.
Born in Clarendon Parish, Jamaica and raised in Kingston, Prince Jazzbo began his career with sound systems such as The Whip in Spanish Town.
He began recording with Coxsone Dodd's Studio One label in the early 1970's, and also recorded for Glen Brown and Lee 'Scratch' Perry.
He went on to work on his own releases with Bunny Lee, producing as well in collaboration with many artists as a vocalist and producer for labels including his own, Ujama.
The Perry-produced album Super Ape featured Jazzbo toasting on 'Croaking Lizard'. Jazzbo and fellow toaster I-Roy had a well reported, but friendly and mutually beneficial on-record clash during 1975, including the cuts 'Straight to Jazzbo's Head' from I-Roy and the retort, 'Straight to I-Roy's Head' from Prince Jazzbo.
The Death of Prince Jazzbo
Prince Jazzbo's very last message to the world and testament tune is known as 'All Haffi Bow' on a Ujama style riddim cut produced by the Airpuff Records label on the 6th. September 2013.
Jazzbo died five days later on the 11th. September 2013, aged 62, after a battle with lung cancer.
