This starts my Essex postings. There are not as many images as I thought. This first one's entitled 'The Shadow of My Hat on a Beach Hut'

(probably during a shunting movement - see below).

Scanned from a colour negative taken by the late Roy Dixon, now in my collection.

The County of Essex

These latest collection of images have been photographed over a long period of time. The greater part has been taken when I have visited a church in that town or village. Some of the villages are so small that apart from a few houses which I won’t post, have no significant features to them that I could find, apart from the village signs. Some of the larger towns have had the greater share of visits, because of their churches and to my book buying travels.

As usual with my stuff, please enjoy.

The River in 2019

During the Pleistocene, the primitive River Thames flowed from Wales to Clacton-on-Sea, crossing what is now the North Sea to end up being a tributary of the Rhine. This course was blocked by an ice mass during the Age of Ice. The river deviated to take its current course, reaching what is today the city of London.

During the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, the river was one of the main means of transport between London and Westminster. During the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, the river froze on several occasions. Since then, the Thames has not completely frozen again. The construction of a new London bridge, with fewer pillars than the old one, which allows the river to flow more easily, prevented the current from becoming too slow, which would allow the water to freeze.

You are more than welcome to comment my photography and even leave the name of your group. But please do not leave one of those big logos, that are flooding the network. Thank also for the + 5 million visits that I receive in networks.

Another shot from my day trip. I think that sepia suits this image quite well. I hope you like it too.
