Sometimes you reach the point where a decision has to be made. You can go with the flow or choose the less trodden path.

Either way it's an adventure and you always have a choice.

Which path will you follow?

“We are not going to change the whole world, but we can change ourselves and feel free as birds. We can be serene even in the midst of calamities and, by our serenity, make others more tranquil. Serenity is contagious. If we smile at someone, he or she will smile back. And a smile costs nothing. We should plague everyone with joy. If we are to die in a minute, why not die happily, laughing? (136-137)”

~ Swami Satchidananda, The Yoga Sutras

“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don't resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”

~ Lao Tzu

“We are our choices.”

This is the final photo from the Melbourne Zoo. It shows the oldest remaining 19th century building, which at one point housed lions. Thank goodness it is now empty, and the lions have much more room to roam. But equally we can be glad for the opportunity to see the way animals were exhibited not too many decades ago. We have come a long way in our understanding of animal welfare.

Modern zoos do not take animals from the wild. Their breeding programs and research are geared towards educating the public and preserving their precious DNA for future generations when many species may well otherwise become extinct.

The message here (enlarge the shot) is one of making choices. When we buy products - in this case palm oil - it is vital we make sure that it has not been sourced from places like rainforests or other fragile environments. Having governments enforcing regulations and proper labelling of goods will go a long way to helping protect precious habitats and species from being lost. The responsibility is ours to choose.

This tea caddy box is probably over 30 years old, but it's still kicking around. Why the title "Hobson's choice"?. Simply because it was the only suitable thing I could find. "Creative or unusual packaging"... "Looking close on Friday"...

Each of us will have many choices to make this year. It is how and what we choose that makes the fabric of our lives. What do you want to become this year? The choice is yours!

Photographing storms seems to be all about choices. Even though radar is a big help in identifying the heaviest rain, you still need to stop and look every so often. That's what I was doing when I took this stitch, just trying to work out wether I want to go SW or SE to stay on the edge.

Some decisions in life are just so darn difficult! Oh well guess I'll just have to have 2 cuppas.

This is for the We're Here group who today are visiting the Mugshots Thursdays group.

As the title say's this was my 2nd choice shot for the macro monday theme , but I thought it was a bit to obvious what it is.

Answer = Long nose pliers...

Well I was in two minds as to uploading this one. Firstly because I know its been done a few times before. Secondly as I don't want to offend anyone!

But I did it for my own personal learning with photoshop and it turned out far better than I expected, and seeing as one of the reason I did this 365 this year was to learn and force myself to improve in this area I figured I should really put it up.

Lessons learned today were:

1. That actually planning the shots you are going to use makes the edit far easier.

2. A blank background shot can be useful.

3. And a silver thermos flask makes a good metallic adaptor.
