As the sun finally came out after lunch, I strolled over to Lodge corner to catch some pictures of the cars taking part in the second Aurora XL Trophy race. Here in the ex-Formula Two Chevron B25 is James Murray - who pushed eventual winner Martin Bullock all the way in an extremely exciting race before finally settling for second place.
1968 Chevron B8 at Donington Historic Festival 30/4/2011. Chassis no CHDBE56, driven by Joe Singer and Simon Hope. First owned by Barrie Smith, who drove it to victory at the 68 Danish Sports car grand prix plus numerous other wins that season. We think the third owners Roy Seddon, and John Raffo finished 19th over all and third in class in the the 1969 Targa Florio. The car then went to Barbados and ended up in chicken Shed. This is the first time it has raced in approx' 30 years, if you know anything about this car's history please contact us. Thanks......

Ḥebron, is located in the southern West Bank, 30 km (19 mi) south of Jerusalem. Nestled in the Judean Mountains, it lies 930 meters (3,050 ft) above sea level. It is the largest city in the West Bank and home to around 165,000 Palestinians and over 500 Jewish settlers concentrated in and around the old quarter. The city is most notable for containing the traditional burial site of the biblical Patriarchs and Matriarchs and is therefore considered the second-holiest city in Judaism after Jerusalem. The city is also venerated by Muslims for its association with Abraham and was traditionally viewed as one of the "four holy cities of Islam."
After the destruction of the First Temple, most of the Jewish inhabitants of Hebron were exiled, and according to the conventional view, their place was taken by Edomites in about 587 BCE. Some Jews appear to have lived there after the return from the Babylonian exile, however. This Idumean town was said to have been in turn destroyed by Judah Maccabee in 167 BCE. The city appears to have long resisted Hasmonean dominance, however, and indeed as late as the First Jewish–Roman War was still considered Idumean. Herod the Great built the wall which still surrounds the Cave of the Patriarchs. During the first war against the Romans, Hebron was conquered by Simon Bar Giora, a Sicarii leader, and burnt down by Vespasian's officer Cerealis. After the defeat of Simon bar Kokhba in 135 CE, innumerable Jewish captives were sold into slavery at Hebron's Terebinth slave-market. Eventually it became part of the Byzantine Empire. The Byzantine emperor Justinian I erected a Christian church over the Cave of Machpelah in the 6th century CE which was later destroyed by the Sassanid general Shahrbaraz in 614 when Khosrau II's armies besieged and took Jerusalem.

Former CHEVRON Gasoline Station, which is a former site of Exxon Gas Station, which has gone through a series of owners. After Exxon left the Southern California area, the station eventually became a Texaco Gasoline Station. It was at this point that the original main building went from the traditional 1970s design to its current box design. After the split up of the Shell Texaco Marketing alliance due to CHEVRON buying Texaco, this station eventually converted to a CHEVRON Station with a convenience store, however it went out of business somewhere between 2007/2008. These photos were taken on 07/12/2009, the CHEVRON has closed again with its convenience store, which was named name West Coast Customs at 11261 Santa Monica Blvd.

This original acrylic on canvas painting measures 30" x 40" and is executed by using thin glazes of color and allowing the to run. The resulting texture makes for an interesting contrast with the measured chevron pattern. See the photo details included here.
