Walking through New Tavern Fort Gardens there are 3 mature chestnut trees, currently dropping conkers by the pound and turning colour. These leaves are close to the trunk and much smaller than their larger and frankly lascivious kin on the branches, but perhaps they're prettier.

A welcome surprise to see the Rose Ringed Parakeet on a Chestnut Tree in Hyde Park, London, UK

I have been photographing the Ancient Trees at the Prince Bishops' deer park here in Bishop Auckland. This tree is likely at least 1000 years old and is still alive. These images have been shot on 5x4 large format film using a Wista 45SP and Fujinon 150mm W lens.

Aesculus hippocastanum is a species of flowering plant in the soapberry and lychee family Sapindaceae. It is a large deciduous, synoecious (hermaphroditic-flowered) tree, commonly known as horse-chestnut or conker tree.Quoted from Wikipedia

The chestnut tree (Aesculus hippocastanum) belongs to the family of the Sapincaceae. The bee collects red pollen from this tree. This year I noticed that the bees were very interested in this flowers; you could hear it. Gemeine Kastanie, Honigbiene

One of my greatest pleasures is being near water, especially away from the crowds. I could sit for a very long time here, in the shade of the overhanging chestnut trees, quietly contemplating the colours, the reflections, the play of light and shadows and how the water's surface changes constantly.
