I couldn’t resist this wing stretch of one of the White-chested Emerald hummingbirds that was visiting the gardens of the Asa Wright Nature Center in Trinidad this month. The hummingbirds were so much fun to watch and photograph and there were SOOOO many of them.
We will be doing this trip again in spring of 2019, if you think you might be interested more information is available here: www.texastargetbirds.com/group-photo-trips/2019-trinidad/

Amazilia brevirostris
Endemic to southern and southeast Brazil, where it is mainly found in mountains above 800 m, the Bay-chested Warbling Finch is generally common at the edge of forest, in semi-open areas, where it is most frequently encountered within mixed-species flocks, often with the congeneric and rather larger Buff-throated Warbling Finch (Poospiza lateralis), which usually outnumbers the present species. The arboreal Bay-chested Warbling Finch is a highly attractive, somewhat warbler-like bird, characterized by the largely gray upperparts, with white underparts and a white mark below the eye, but the most distinctive feature is the broad reddish pectoral band and flanks.
