♫ Smashing Pumpkins – For God And Country ♫y

Dipped into a chilly November day archive for this fence shot. Sunrise over a rural farm field ... I don't want to say I'm looking forward to cooler temperatures when I bemoaned the cold not so long ago.

So ... do you think it is too terribly wrong to be thinking about jeans, jackets and a bowl of homemade soup with vegetables from my garden?

I apologize for not having been by everyone's photostreams much lately. *heavy sigh* ... but today I hope to get caught up. Hope everyone is having an awesome Friday!!

Happy Fence Friday Everyone!!

Lying on the hot asphalt during the summer is god idea to have some relax.

The photograph explores the tension between constraint and self-discovery, between isolation and the yearning to engage with the world beyond imposed limits. In a time when truth is often obscured, Breaktruth captures the fragile yet profound moment of revelation—an echo of resilience, desire, and the unstoppable force of human will.

Happy Sunday

Hi people, I’m Tonny Froyen from Molde, Norway.

Each photograph I take is a reflection of a quiet moment — a pause in the rush of life to notice the calm, the color, and the stillness nature offers. Sundays are for slowing down, breathing in fresh air, and getting inspired by everything around us. I believe nature has a way of resetting our thoughts and grounding our energy.

Whether you're out for a walk or just sipping coffee by the window, today is a great day to reflect, recharge, and reconnect.

Let's support each other ✨

"The first week of August hangs at the very top of summer, the top of the live-long year, like the highest seat of a Ferris wheel when it pauses in its turning.

The weeks that come before are only a climb from balmy spring, and those that follow a drop to the chill of autumn, but the first week of August is motionless, and hot. It is curiously silent, too, with blank white dawns and glaring noons, and sunsets smeared with too much color." — Natalie Babbitt, Tuck Everlasting

Columbia Park in the morning

This was taken almost 2 months ago. A lot of things happened since then, like a trip to Patagonia, so I haven’t gotten around to edit this. Till now.

This morning’s sunrise was pretty, of which I didn’t actually take any photos, not even using my drone, and I thought maybe it was time to pay a batch of photos that I took then a good visit.

I really loved how the light hit the trees and the grass. In particular, the way that it illuminated my favorite tree. I am such a sucker for beautiful light.

For nearly 40 years, the folks at the Utah Department of Natural Resources have gathered the bison herd on Antelope Island to check their health and manage the population. This annual roundup draws people from all over the world, young and old, locals and travelers. This year, I chatted with a couple from Canada and a gentleman who had come all the way from Argentina.

The rider pictured here was an Utah native who’s been part of the roundup for years. At 80-plus years old, he told me he might only have a few more rides left with his trusty horse who’s now over 20 years old itself. But from what I saw, he looked tough as nails and ready for another day in the saddle.

Before the roundup began, I asked if he’d take a few warm-up laps around the open field. He grinned and asked, “Walk or run?”

“Run, of course,” I said.

And run they did.

From his hat, I’d guess he once rode with the U.S. Cavalry, the kind of man who’s spent a lifetime charging into life full stride, horse and all.

I think the round-up brings back a sense of history. A way to remember and maybe even romanticize today’s cowboys and cowgirls.

This sweeping coastal view down the fence line is for my best bud Pammy from Morro Bay, California! When I visited her last November, we cruised up the coast to Big Sur and camped for a few nights. Along the way, we found this drive up into the mountains. It was shaping up to be a beautiful sunset. This is the makai view (Hawaiian for on the seaside, towards the sea, in the direction of the sea. Always loved that word)! We sat on the hillside with some tasty beverages until the sun dipped into the sea. You can see the tiny ribbon of the Pacific Coast Highway down there! My favorite place in the world ... today!

*I had my tripod set up and experimented with some HDR. I loved how this one caught some sun flare.

Happy Fence Friday Everyone! Have to run to work ... "I'm late / I'm late / For a very important date!" I'll catch up to everyone's gorgeous fences this evening! :D

We tend to celebrate light in our pictures. Understanding how light interacts with the camera is paramount to the work we do. The temperature, intensity and source of light can wield different photography effect on the same subject or scene; add ISO, aperture and speed, the camera, the lens type, focal length and filters…the combination is varied ad multi-layered and if you know how to use them all, you will come to appreciate that all lights are useful, even those surrounded by a lot of darkness.

We are guided by three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, our longing to capture in print, that which is beautiful, the constant search for the one picture, and constant barrage of new equipment and style of photography. These passions, like great winds, have blown us across the globe in search of the one and we do understand the one we do look for might be this picture right here for someone else out there.

The lake turned out to be quite larger than my first impression. And that was a good thing.

In general people love a lake or a pond in a park. And here I was witnessing many folks really enjoying themselves while doing whatever they were doing. Jogging, walking, pushing the baby strollers or simply people watching while sitting on the benches.

I ended up at the spot closest to the sculpture. The water was calmer here because this recess was quite well sheltered in.

Loved the color contrast, particularly aided well by the primary colors of the sculpture, juxtaposed against the blue hues of the adjacent buildings.

To be honest, the very thing that made me highly anticipated to come around to this spot was the wooden posts floating in the lake that I had seen while on the opposite side. It turned out though that they were too far from the shore. Also way too close to the sculpture and the tiny island on which it was built.

Nonetheless, I really liked this particular moment in portrait mode.

Great Western Road Trip 2010 • Day 10

25 Days • 13 States • 6,930 Miles • 6,820 Photos

A Sunset Finale

We started the day at the Norris Geyser Basin. This was the smelliest geyser basin yet! We spent about three hours there. Our next destination: the North entrance. It is amazing, to see how different each side of the park is. On the way up there we finally saw the Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep; a couple of ewes and their babies. Wildlife sightings are always a plus with us!!

At the North Entrance is the quaint little Western style town of Gardiner where you can see the Roosevelt Arch; a Yellowstone Entrance Gateway dedicated by President Theodore Roosevelt on 24 April 1903. I like one of the inscriptions over the top of the arch: "For the Benefit and Enjoyment of the People."

After Gardiner, we headed over to Lamar Valley and the Northeast Entrance. But it was getting late, so we decided to head back to the cabin in West Yellowstone. On our way out of the park, we were treated to this glorious and spectacular sunset. The end of another beautiful day in Yellowstone.
