"Chasing Light" - Basking in the last of the morning light. A simple capture of light and autumn warmth on my journey through nature.

This impatient was tired of waiting then started chasing the fish.

I got up at 4am to catch a sunrise at Eyemouth, but the weather was having none of it.. It rained and there was a very nippy wind making low temperatures meaning all my shots were coming out blurry.

I went back to my car and was ready to head home but I did not want to go empty handed so following a last minute decision, I headed to Pettico Wick in hope of getting some light on the cliffs.

At last the clouds broke and some light formed exactly where I anticipated and I was lucky to catch it.

I know this place has been done over and over again by a lot of Photographers but I like the beach as it is local and is the perfect place for a sunset especially. Thanks for viewing.

Was doing some digging and reprocessing of some raws from my hardrive. This is from ten years ago at Joshua Tree National Park. Chasing light at cholla cactus garden.

Don't ask me why, I have no clue, but apparently the fog that comes very often cover San Francisco's coastline has been named Karl and last night I was chasing it as night was falling over the Mount Tamalpais state park area.

Was caught by a storm on my way back from Chicago and after trying more than 20 times while driving, finally I could capture my first thunder shot! :) It was difficult to take it as we were inside car and my camera battery almost dying, hope to take better shots next time.

It was lovely to watch this small child experiencing the freedom of running along the beach and the delight as the gulls took off the closer she got!

Yesterday morning I was up early getting ready to go pick up Ashley for a day out of shooting. When I started driving I noticed the clouds were so low in the sky. It felt like driving down a corridor where clouds replaced the ceiling. As I approached the canyon that I had to drive through to get to her, the fog became so thick I could barely see the car in front of me. I pulled off the road at the first chance I got, threw on my dress, set up my tripod and camera, and did what I felt in my heart was right to do. I didn't have an idea planned, but instantly I knew what would make me feel most fulfilled.

Shooting lasted 5 minutes and by the time I was finished I was soaked in mud - the bottom of the dress, my sneakers, the jumper I wore underneath. I felt bad because she was going to use that dress later in the day. When I arrived to pick her up I was warmly greeted with new shoes and a dryer to put the dress in, and all was well...or...all was *right*. Everything was in it's right place.

A spectacular sunrise over Cranborne Chase last week. In spite of the promised mist, it was still worth the early start.

This is one of my favorite buildings in downtown Chicago. Every time I pass by I just admire the converging lines looking upward along with the curves. I took this shot a while back but wanted to go back and process this one. I played with curves and Color Look up tables in Photoshop CC to get to this type of cinematic color grading. I like this look a lot for urbanscapes, which is a very popular one on Instagram.

One black skimmer chasing another is a common sight at a skimmer nesting colony. Unless there is a fish to be stolen, the objective of the chasing skimmer seems to be to "bite" the chased skimmer, usually on the tail feathers.

As Autumn arrives in the Misty Glens of Scotland these magnificent creatures frequent the lower grounds.

2/3 Cambridge "Half Marathon" series. A proper Spring day yesterday for the race. Winter again today.

A bright day at last and I pointed the camera at anything I thought slow enough to capture in flight. I expected to see the same species of goose together, but no, this was a proper goose chase! They flew round the lake a few times. Presumably territorial but who knows could it be amorous?

Many thanks to all who comment, fave or just enjoy looking, it really is very much appreciated!

This red disk-shaped phenomenon, is another member of the TLEs (Transient Luminous Events, happening in the middle and upper atmosphere, above thunderstorms) family and is called sprite halo. Under it, there is a group of, relatively small, sprites. Sprite halo is short-lived (some ms) and its color comes from the same physical process as in red sprites (de-excitation of 1st positive group of mol. nitrogen). Halos appear close to sprite tops (alt. ~80-85 km), over active thunderstorms, like sprites. Sprite halos are usually triggered by -CGs, in contrast to sprites which are related to +CGs (99%). There is also a faint stripe of high clouds in front of the halo. The yellow light is a distant ship.

The event happened over the thunderstorms south of Crete (on the east side of the Medicane on 28/10) as seen from S. Attica during the night of Oct. 28, 2021. Faint parent lightning flash at the bottom, behind a cloud layer, can be seen as well. I've used a Sigma 85 mm lens at f/1.4, for 1/4'' with 51.2k iso.
