The different photo-strolls tend to blur as memories often do. Ah, I remember now. we were winding down on our first stroll in L5P and the sun was beginning to sink behind the buildings. Todd noticed that some trees were casting their shadows on a beautiful red wall. It was like they were creating their own natural graffiti.
Our stomachs were grumbling by then and it was time for pizza. By the time we came out, the shadows were gone but not forgotten, captured by the lens. Then...

It's been way over a week since I had any photo ops. Yesterday another cold front came through and the sky cracked open a little to surprise me with this.
Listen
Wish I could quit you, but it feels too good
If I could turn it off, you know I would
But somethin' 'bout you makes me think we could
Make it after all
But I know, yeah I know it's a matter of time
'Til you walk, 'til you walk back out of my life
Leave me standing here lonely, feeling like a fool
Every time, every time you say we're done
You come back to the love you were running from
Don't know why, don't know why I let you, but I do
Guess I love chasing after you

The small town of Chase, BC has an enchanting waterfalls that flows from Glacier fed waters. This time of year its steady outpouring of frigidly cold water, also ripples its way through a collection of jagged rocks. It then continues as a stream under a highway, eventually reaching the lake beyond.
I wanted to arrive later in the day in order to let the walls of this location fall into shadow. It also meant that the suns rays would be too low to penetrate the area.
The morning clouds gave the sun space over Chase Lake - a man-made lake, like most in Kansas. We spent the night here. It was my second. The first found me on the other side of a tent flap from a small coyote or very large raccoon (I'd rather the former over the latter).

Today was the perfect day to shoot a rainbow. I went to the beach to get the best view. I did not had my best lens on the camera so this is a panorama of 3 images.
Another shot of those green fields.. taken from Low Fell.
All shots on this short Lakes visit was taken using the EFm 18-150 lens.
Always chase your dreams. Chase the sun. Look for the good, embrace it. Acknowledge the bad but let it go and embrace the beauty around you.

🎼: Chasing the Sun ~The Wanted~
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, you'll find us chasing the sun
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, you'll find us chasing the sun
And when the daylight's fadin'
We're gonna play in the dark 'til it's golden again
And now it feels so amazing
Can't see it coming, I will never grow old again
You'll find us chasing the sun
Most mornings I'm standing in the dark somewhere, camera/tripod by my side taking pictures in the dark. Four images stitched together.
Thanks for looking.
I think this is one of my favorite images from our aurora chases in Alaska last month. This was on Tuesday, February 18th. All day the aurora levels were high and the sky had cleared right over Fairbanks, but as the sun dropped, the aurora levels dropped and the clouds moved right overhead. We took a gamble and drove an hour southeast of town hoping we would get into a clear pocket showing up on the satellite picture. Sure enough, not long after we pulled off the highway, we witnessed a great Aurora display and a complete sub-storm cycle from start to finish. It was a magical night with lots of movement, structure, and red color mixing with the greens at times. This image was taken around 10:40pm local time on February 18th between Salcha and Harding Lake, Alaska.

I worked at home today, answered some online reference questions, and tried (and failed) to set up a VPN with my work computer. That called for a nap, and by the time I got up, it was already 6:28, and I hadn't taken a photo all day, So I got in the car and drove around aimlessly until I spotted this vivid patch of sunset. I shot this through the windshield while stopped at a red light. One photo a day. (81/366) Bay Terrace, Queens, NYC -- March 21, 2020
Today I did something that I haven't done in a long time: take a day off to make photos of passenger trains. Passenger. Trains. Really.
The intercity trains between Schaarbeek and Kortrijk are still hauled by vintage 21 and 27 series locomotives. These machines are about my age and as such I've known them all my active railfanning life. They are being gradually withdrawn though, and this realizing was one of the factors deciding to spend a day chasing them. Another important factor being that I had found a lot of nice spot between Oudenaarde and Zottegem during my bicyle rides, but I didn't make photos there yet.
With the locomotives oriented on the Kortrijk-side of the trains, they would only show a sunny face in the afternoon. The morning I spent picturing 2 freight trains on locations I wanted to try out for a while.

We have been coming to the Shuswap area for many years. While the rest enjoy the numerous amenities the beach offers, I typically go off investigating for something to photograph. Holiday time seems to divide people into two camps. Those who enjoy the leisurely time to do so, and those who wish to adventure out. I am the latter of the two.
This Water Falls can be found in the town of Chase and is about 30 minutes from our holiday place on the Shuswap. It was very exciting to see this Falls for the first time, even though it is only half an hour away. Thanks to my daughter we were delivered to the Chase Creek Falls because she too enjoys an adventure. I will return.
