This beautiful circular walk links Chartwell and Emmetts Garden; the walk is fully waymarked and passes through the woodland areas of Toys Hill and Hosey Common, as well as the pretty hamlet of French Street.

The principal adult home of Sir Winston & Lady Churchill. A much-loved family home and the place from which Winston drew inspiration from 1924 until the end of his life.

It seemed like we had the house all to ouselves on this gloomy, overcast day. 7 shot, long exposure, HDR with pp in photoshop.

Around every corner at Chartwell you will find bursts of summer colour. The borders lining the top terrace of the kitchen garden and the orchard are looking particularly colourful, filled with pinks and purples and lovely scents. The lilies are blooming, the weigela looks fantastic so make sure you take the time to admire the summer borders at Chartwell

This is the view of the summerhouse and the terrace as you come out of the house. I love the chairs that they provide for you to sit and look at the woodland view across the valley. Such a peaceful place.

Sadly rambler/tourist bus services tend not to last. In June 2002 Southlands Travel (Metrobus) were running a service in North West Kent numbered 599. This is Eynsford, a Darent Valley beauty spot. I was rather hoping it might go through the ford, but sadly not! This I'm sure was the only time a bus has gone this way. I think that bus is a bit more than 6'6" wide!
