Went for a wander around Chartwell (National Trust) this afternoon, and found 6 chairs for my NT chair project.
Winston Churchill war Soldat, Journalist, Abgeordneter, Minister, Premierminister, Autor und Schriftsteller (Literaturnobelpreis), mit seiner Frau Gestalter ihres Anwesens Chartwell sowie Maler von über 500 Gemälden.
Winston Churchill was a soldier, journalist, MP, minister, prime minister, author and writer (Nobel Prize for Literature), the designer of their Chartwell estate with his wife and the painter of over 500 paintings.
Winston and Clementine Churchill bought Chartwell in 1922; it would be their family home for the next forty years. Here Churchill was a politician and statesman but also a husband, father, writer, painter and garden planner. The rooms in the house remain much as they were when he lived here, with pictures, books and personal mementoes while a special exhibition gives deeper insight into his life through 50 objects. Chartwell’s hillside gardens reflect his love of landscape and nature. They include the lakes he created, the kitchen garden and the Marycot
Chartwell is a country house near Westerham, Kent, in South East England. For over forty years it was the home of Winston Churchill. He bought the property in September 1922 and lived there until shortly before his death in January 1965. In the 1930s, when Churchill was out of political office, Chartwell became the centre of his world. At his dining table, he gathered those who could assist his campaign against German re-armament and the British government's response of appeasement; in his study, he composed speeches and wrote books; in his garden, he built walls, constructed lakes and painted. During the Second World War Chartwell was largely unused, the Churchills returning after he lost the 1945 election. In 1953, when again prime minister, the house became Churchill's refuge when he suffered a debilitating stroke. In October 1964, he left for the last time, dying at his London home, 28 Hyde Park Gate, on 24 January 1965.

On Wednesday the OH and I went to Chartwell (National Trust), the former home of Sir Winston Churchill. I managed to loose him, and I went for a walk away from the main property. I was so delighted when these 4 came paddling over to me :)

Ideally I would have liked to have taken a couple of steps to the right, but I wasn't allowed on the grass.

Out for lunch and a wander around Chartwell (National Trust), the former home of Sir Winston Churchill.
The house is wonderfully decorated for Christmas and well worth visiting. There are also little boards like this dotted about, with memories provided by the Churchill family.

This one is on cottages in the grounds of Chartwell, the former home of Sir Winston Churchill.
The Churchill family loved Chartwell. It was a home and a place that truly inspired Sir Winston. The house is still much as it was when the family lived here - pictures, books and personal mementoes evoking the career and wide-ranging interests of this influential family. The studio is home to the largest single collection of Churchill's paintings.
