We've been to Chartwell today (National Trust) former home of Sir Winston Churchill.
I got a bumper crop of Christmas Trees for my little project :)
The grand brick front to the house at Chartwell. Entry to the house was via a timed ticket only, which you got when you entered the estate.

Chartwell was the family home of Sir Winston Churchill from 1922 until his death in 1965. The house is situated 2 miles south of Westerham in Kent.
Churchill loved the house, especially the view over the Weald of Kent. He modernised the originally rather gloomy Victorian mansion, by adding a garden wing consisting of three large and attractive rooms. Churchills wife Clementine made her contribution by choosing the comfortable furniture and floral chintz curtains. The Nemon Statue estate consisting of 80 acres gave Winston the peace and tranquility that he loved. He relaxed by painting in the garden or in his studio and by transforming the grounds with new lakes, and robust brick walls built with his own hands. The Chart Well which rises on the western boundary of the site fed the existing lake and gave the estate its name.
Went for a wander around Chartwell (National Trust) this afternoon, and found 6 chairs for my NT chair project.
This was as close as I could get to this chair today. The house was short of volunteers so the kitchen area was roped off. Yes I know if I was using a zoom lens I could have zoomed, but am just using a 17mm (on M4/3), as I really don't like making things easy for myself :))
Visits to Scotney Castle and Chartwell today. Chartwell is the former home of Winston Churchill. The "room guide" commented that I was being very artistic as I lined up this shot.

The principal adult home of Sir Winston & Lady Churchill. A much-loved family home and the place from which Winston drew inspiration from 1924 until the end of his life.
It seemed like we had the house all to ouselves on this gloomy, overcast day. 7 shot, long exposure, HDR with pp in photoshop.

Around every corner at Chartwell you will find bursts of summer colour. The borders lining the top terrace of the kitchen garden and the orchard are looking particularly colourful, filled with pinks and purples and lovely scents. The lilies are blooming, the weigela looks fantastic so make sure you take the time to admire the summer borders at Chartwell
This is the view of the summerhouse and the terrace as you come out of the house. I love the chairs that they provide for you to sit and look at the woodland view across the valley. Such a peaceful place.
