Chartwell is a country house near Westerham, Kent, in South East England. For over forty years it was the home of Winston Churchill. He bought the property in September 1922 and lived there until shortly before his death in January 1965. In the 1930s, when Churchill was out of political office, Chartwell became the centre of his world. At his dining table, he gathered those who could assist his campaign against German re-armament and the British government's response of appeasement; in his study, he composed speeches and wrote books; in his garden, he built walls, constructed lakes and painted. During the Second World War Chartwell was largely unused, the Churchills returning after he lost the 1945 election. In 1953, when again prime minister, the house became Churchill's refuge when he suffered a debilitating stroke. In October 1964, he left for the last time, dying at his London home, 28 Hyde Park Gate, on 24 January 1965.
Went for a wander around Chartwell (National Trust) this afternoon, and found 6 chairs for my NT chair project.
Anyone who has visited a National Trust property will know they don't like light! But if there is a light source, I am trying to include it, if I can. Thankfully, the little Olly Pen-F is great at keeping details in the shadows and highlights, which Lightroom can then find.
The other problem is that I can't move anything and I have to wait for other visitors to move along ... I'm not complaining about other people, coz I often stop and chat to them.
Took a visit to a National Trust Location.

Greylag goose The ancestor of most domestic geese, the greylag is the largest and bulkiest of the wild geese native to the UK and Europe. In many parts of the UK it has been re-established by releasing birds in suitable areas, but the resulting flocks (often mixed with Canada geese) found around gravel pits, lakes and reservoirs all year round in southern Britain tend to be semi-tame and uninspiring. The native birds and wintering flocks found in Scotland retain the special appeal of truly wild geese

Chartwell, now a National Trust property, was the principal adult home of Sir Winston Churchill. Churchill and his wife Clementine bought the property, located two miles south of Westerham, Kent, England, in 1922. Extensive renovations simplifying and modernising the home were undertaken directly, completely transforming it when complete. Whilst not the most visually attractive of houses it has a lovely feel inside and the gardens are delightful. Reached #68 on Explore on 23 April 2013
The gardens of Chartwell House were full of beautiful pastels. I must make a note to return next Spring!
Autumnal walks at Chartwell.. Make the most of the changing seasons with a stroll into the wider estate at Chartwell. From here you can even walk to our nearby properties of Emmetts Garden and Toys Hill.
Dahlias, which have been cultivated at Chartwell since the 1930s, offer vibrant early autumn colour, not only in the cut flower bed but also as part of the floral displays created by volunteers that adorn the house..
