I was lucky enough to see one of the Black Swallowtail cats changing out of his 3rd instar outfit into his 4th instar. As is typical of caterpillars, once the skin was fully shed, he/she turned around and ate it. It is believed that they do this so as not to leave an easy sign for predators. Ingenious.

iPhone slow shutter capture to show the changing urban scape here. More towers are coming; not to my liking. Thanks for your appreciation, Gail

Nothing tells me summer is over more than seeing the hay bales scattered across the countryside. What is your sign of summer coming to an end?

Tonight I headed out to Cranbourne to photograph the hay bales before they are taken away for the autumn. If you saw my earlier post then you will know I was torn between going out or staying in; glad I took the risk as it really paid off! I tried to get a composition where the bales were lined up and looking kind of organised.... Its actually not easy and I finally settled on this view. As the sun dropped over the horizon to the right, the sky lit up in a display of gorgeous reds and oranges. Another perfect evening to be out.

This was actually my 2nd visit as I drove around the other night looking for a way into the field and just couldn't see one. Massive thanks for the tip off from Martin Dolan and I made a return trip!

This image was taken minutes before the next image in my stream - amazing how quickly the light can change!

Ferrari LaFerrari in Monza

As the old adage goes, The Only Constant In Life Is Change...and this scene will soon change forever. And while most won't lament the loss of one of the last stretches of long street running in the northeast the railfan community sure will...me among them.

One of the last trains ever to run up Monroe Street on the old Erie Dundee spur reflects off the tinted window of a vehicle parked along the crowded street. It's this conflict between traffic and trains that has long driven the city to try to drive the railroad off. What they could never do had finally been done by simple economics and the changing nature of northeastern industry.

ME SW1500 (EMD blt. Oct. 1966 as RFP 91) is shoving west with five cars of scrap rail and hardware they will be taking back to Morristown. After this there will probably be one more scrap train to run up and down the street and then that will be the end...

The sky was a blood red due to the rising sun. I grabbed my iPhone (Camera being packed) and walked outside and within those seconds the red had gone and had degraded into an orange. Disappointed the blood red had degraded so quickly, but the skyscape was, in my opinion, still interesting.

This change was a bit unintended... I bought the wig so I could try it on Momoe. But it made her look somehow sad and dark. Then still thought to try it on Nanami and I must say that I love the result <3

Funny thing... this wig was my first choise when searching a new wig for veritas but I didn't know how monique wigs would be like and was afraid to try.. And now she still got the wig :D

This was taken at the Citadel in hue, Vietnam. It was a colourful show.

It's amazing how fast photography is changing. I never gave HDR a thought until just under a year ago when I used my own car for my first HDR experiment on Jan.1st of this year. This photo now just happens to be my #1 most viewed photo at about 50,000 views (mostly because of you do a search for HDR it's usually the #1 or #2 most relevant photo).

And this photo is another in the series I did with my work buddy Jeff. The original Viper photo I posted is now my #1 most interesting photo of all time.

And according to my most interesting photos, the top 14 shots are all HDR shots, all taken this year. My previous #1 shot held that position since I initially posted it over 2 years ago. This was when I was at my peak of doing night-time long exposure shots. At that point, my photography was all about going out somewhere random late at night and taking long exposures at night. I also had my times doing tilt shift miniture fakes and using toy cameras for another way of looking at things as well as using textures to help enhance a photo.

What I'm getting at is that these fads come and go. Who knows what will be next? Years and years ago, improvements in photography came at the advances in use of film, and better lenses, and artificial lighting, but these came at a rate of every few years.

My next goal is to obtain and use slip-in filters to create more natural, even exposures.

I know a lot of people going back to film and understanding the original principles of what makes an out-of-the-camera photo more interesting. I think if we all strive to start there, we'll need to do a lot less enhancing to obtain Explore greatness.. or even the accolades from our peers.

Happy rainy Monday. I hope most of you have all your shopping done.

Papa, I'm going alone to see my friends. Bye

Out of Oblivion, they are reborn. From a nightmare we thought forgotten, they come to life again. They come for us.

Yeah, I know what you think. Sometimes I have strange thoughts. Maybe I should stop reading the news...

•The truth about Yosemite: www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/Sexual-Harassment-Common-in...

Morals are how we treat people we know. Ethics are how we treat people we don’t know.

Morals are what make us a good parent, a good friend a nice neighbor.

Ethics are how we build a society, that’s the true test of our higher self.

What happens when society is ruled by the subjective morals of sociopaths, which chose to project that on to complete strangers? We all end up with a society governed by self-aggrandizement. These people chose to judge others by their own twisted point of view; furthering the erosion of our entire social fabric.

This is how so many are easily influenced into unethical harassment towards a targeted individual. This is how workplace mobbing, gang stalking and community stalking are embedded into society.

It’s time for change. People’s lives are being destroyed by the judgment of a few, which project that judgement on others. Gang Stalking, Community Stalking and Workplace Mobbing are real. Help me break this cycle of unethical harassment; expose those that participate in these acts. Help me change this dark future being imposed on our children.

Change is a measure of time and, in the autumn, time seems speeded up. What was is not and never again will be; what is is change.”

From brown to green

Chameleon changes his colour

To suit the cause

To embrace the rainbow nation

He can fit in with all

After segregation

After hibernation

Chameleon walks free

Down the roads

Up the hills

In between robots

Chameleon walks free

The wind howls furiously

Gusts blows him away

Papers fly across the streets

And chameleon walks free

Returning home

To the planks of dirt

Cockroaches observe him with haunted eyes

Chameleon changes colour

Chameleon is free!

Someone from a warm climate would probably think we were overly optimistic but on the vehicle safaris my wife and I take through the countryside we are sensing a change in the air in the countryside.

Even with the latest snows, both animals and birds are sporting a new freedom to move about and believe it or not, there is a spring (sorry) in their steps and flights that wasn't there during the depth of winter.

This week as we passed over an outlet of a small lake north of Cambridge, there was quite a stretch of open water and a couple of swans were squatted by the edge of the ice holding small fishing poles.

Though we may get a lot more snow and some cold nights yet, winter is once again on its temporary death bed.

This healthy young deer felt comfortable enough to stand and stare for over a minute this morning and has probably been told by his mother that he will soon see a big change.

Two Tree (or not two tree)

A very nice tree, near my home. I can't take any nice ones of it anymore though. The skyline is currently a vast construction site, and in a while a new neighborhood :(.

My original plan was to chill in Dalton for an hour or two & see whatever comes through as a side trip on the way home from Chattanooga that morning. I pulled into the parking lot by the depot when my friend Brad shared an update that 27W was east of Tallapoosa, GA with EMDX Yellow Slug 7208 in the lead. With that news, I immediately left & started booking it down I-75 towards Atlanta to try & beat it. Thankfully for me, the dispatcher put them in the hole at Temple to let two westbounds through, buying me enough time to get to Austell as he was again going into the hole at Lithia Springs for about 20 minutes to allow the higher priority 226 to slip by them. Upon determining not to try either Austell or Mableton, I went to Bridge since I knew I could get them from either side of the crossing there depending on where the sun was. It just so happened that G98, which is normally G78, was going into the lead for Argos USA right as I got there. I set up to get a few shots of them while I waited for 27W when next thing I know, 27W calls Bridge, allowing me to catch a rather eco-friendly meet as the ECO-set powering G98 was passed by the tier 4 demonstrator unit. The moral of this story... it pays to be at the right place at the right time. 7-10-20

This barn caught my eye because it shows changes from decades ago that have morphed into other uses throughout the years in someone's efforts to preserve its usefulness. Change is necessary in our lives but in our declining years sometimes we yearn for things to stay the same.

It's going to be 65'F and sunny today! Another beautiful sky this morning. Looks like more changes in the weather are eminent.

As much as anybody, I understand how changing times decimated downtown retail businesses, especially in small rural towns like DeKalb. But I don't think having business hours that can change on a whim and having business hours that are inconsistent throughout the downtown area is conducive to survival. It's a catch twenty-two for sure. While not completely represented here, I have dozens of photos showing the individual operating hours of DeKalb’s businesses and the discrepancies are alarming.
