The bridge was red and green for the Lord Mayor's lighting of the Christmas Tree in King George Square. It was busy in Brisbane last night, that is for sure. The lights were moving or changing, so very difficult to get a light trail or two, or some cloud action with the lights moving every .3 seconds or so. Nonetheless, very pretty. Another combination of photos, something different.
"Change here for Bridport West Bay, calling at Toller, Powerstock, Bridport, Bridport East and Bridport West Bay" Unfortunately, the branch line to Bridport closed decades ago!
A new Dorset exploration has commenced, this time following the Bridport Railway branch line from Maiden Newton to Bridport West Bay. The distance is not much over 10 miles but is already proving rather surprising and interesting. Several more exploration posts will follow in the next few weeks.
This photo shows the modern day operation at Maiden Newton Station on the Bristol to Weymouth line. Note the double track lay out that allows a passing place on what is often a single track line in Dorset. On the far platform, the 11.38 is about to depart to Weymouth. On the near platform, the 11.40 stopper awaits a token to depart north, destination Bristol Parkway.
Can you see the guard at the end of the platform? The historic photo below, posted a couple of years ago, will have been taken from the other platform, more or less directly across from where he is standing. It shows where the Bridport Branch operated from at Maiden Newton Station. It is along that trackbed that we started our exploration.

Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone.
We visited Mammoth Hot Springs 30 years ago. It is quite amazing to see how much they had changed. Such a special and unique place.
This flower start as white or pinkish-white in the morning, gradually turn pink during the day, and finally deepen to a dark red or crimson color by the evening.

It is an ever changing city. You can see a blank face on the Liver Building clock. The huge hands (bigger than Big Ben's) are being refurbished. In the background, the wind turbines can just be seen on the other side of the Wirral.
A little bit of everything in this consist pulling a train past Tower B12. The new connection from the WC to the CP was under construction and the southern most track has been removed.

This photo shows the climate changes taking place: I shoot this little grebe at the lakes of Colbricon, in the heart of the Dolomites, in August, at an altitude of 1927 meters, where it had nested (the couple had 2 chicks). Usually little grebes do not nest above 500 meters, and in any case in 50 years that I frequent the area I had never seen one. In the same period I saw a couple of grey herons at the Calaita lake, at over 1600 meters above sea level: even in this case I had never seen herons in the area.
Apparently the higher temperatures, especially at night, and the frequent thermal inversion are changing the habits of the fauna...
These photos, all shot within a few seconds of each other during Horizons, show why there are no two identical photos of our planet from orbit. This series of photos is from our visit in 2018. The changing of the guard is at 11am every Monday, unfortunately it did not happen during our visit in 2019 due to the civil unrest at that time, and now the country is in lockdown due to Covid-19, making this years visit off.
Icebat and Ox hung on every minute of Barack's acceptance speech. We all agreed that we want to live in his beautiful dream of America.

Sooner or later, all of us feel the need of being in a wind of change and that's Polaris feeling at the moment. Her time here is over and she's ready to go.

The works explore the relationship between life and death, reality and fantasy, human and machine, as well as various deformations of the human body. In hyperrealistic pieces, narrative and surprising elements merge with the precise depiction of reality. The sculptures in HYPER are technically skilful, depicting the human body as it is, down to the smallest detail, such as a pore, a wrinkle, facial hair and droplets of sweat. The subjects are everyday situations, ordinary people and the diversity of human existence. This makes the viewing experience strikingly real and immersive.
Didn't like the upstairs so I changed it back to the original design in Diagon Alley... It's a small living area with an orange armchair...
