Here's something I haven't done in a longtime - SCRIBBLE CHALLENGE. Some else scribbles a shape and you have to quickly draw something out of that shape :-)

The old flickr group was here:

We used to do it all the time - until most of our team got laid off.

If you fancy doing this on a Friday let me know.

Alright, my darling art journalers, I have a challenge for you. I've collected random images from my collection and put them together on an 8.5 x 11 (US Letter) sheet for easy printing.

Your mission, should you choose to accept, is to create a journal entry using at LEAST THREE images on the sheet.

You may use MORE than 3, but no less. Think creatively; a framed photo is not only a photo, but a frame or border for something else, a flower a background to be sanded down. A clock has more parts than the whole. Bits and pieces, cut from the complete picture, can change an entire collage. And yes, using pieces counts as using an image.

Those are the only rules. You can use anything else in your collection of supplies, but it MUST be a journal entry (and journal is how you define it; loose leaf pages together are still pages in a journal).

If you prefer, there is a PDF of this image here.

Think you're up to the challenge? All entries shall be posted to the Journal Junk community by this Sunday, April 29th, 2007. There are no winners or losers -- more an exploration of your own creativity and the thrill of seeing how differently we use the same images in our own journals. ;)

Any questions can be posted in the comments.

If you're not a member of that community, but would still like to play, leave a link to your image in the comments. :)

My neighborhood bookstore has covered an entire storefront window with these printouts of banned or challenged books. I'm shocked and saddened at the books that people want to ban others from reading. To Kill a Mockingbird, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Slaughterhouse-Five, The Origin of Species, Naked Lunch, The Handmaid's Tale, Native Son, The House of the Spirits, The Color Purple, Lord of the Flies, James and the Giant Peach, A Wrinkle in Time, A Light in the Attic, A Clockwork Orange, the whole Harry Potter series, I Know why the Caged Bird Sings, Brave New World, Bridge to Terabithia, Of Mice and Men, The Grapes of Wrath, The Bell Jar, The Bluest Eye, The Catcher in the Rye. I can't imagine a world without books that make you think.

I really struggled with this challenge and I don't quite know why because its one I really looked forward too and had a few ideas for. I seem to have lost my iPhone photo mojo as nothing I tried seemed to work. This is the best of a bad bunch and the only shot that made it past the finish line to flickr. I need to sort my head out and then maybe I'll revisit this again.

Ok, this might be a bit cheesy but this picture of mine seemed like a perfect fit for these motivational pictures. I just wish it was me that went over the falls.. :) Ok maybe not, I'm glad I was the one who took the picture. ;)

KENYA, Nairobi: In a photograph taken by Make It Kenya 07 July 2015, champion cyclist David Kinja speaks during the Nairobi launch of the Mount Kenya Epik Challenge, a stage race created by Kinja and long distance runner Mr. Douglas Wakiihuri. The race will transverse the foothills of Mount Kenya and the flagship challenge is scheduled to begin and end at Naro Moru from 22nd to the 28th November 2015. The challenge will feature approximately 50-70 cyclists covering a distance of just under 500 km in 6 days 5 nights. The cycling challenge will be a six stage race and will see teams participate in daily portions of the mapped route made up of the five counties of Nyeri, Laikipia, Kirinyaga, Meru and Embu. The last day of the challenge will feature runners participating either in the fun run conducted on a 10km distance or the Altitude run of 26km to culminate at the Met Station, 3040m above sea level. Runners will have gone through 6-8weeks of pre-event training conducted at different altitude locations in order to protect them from experiencing altitude sickness and ensure they have adequate capacity to undergo the challenge.
