I was challenged by my very dear friend Ethan to partake in the #guardyourlight challenge that T E E J ✿ launched spontaneously a few days ago on her Flickr.
I was inspired and snapped this last night. Now it's my turn to challenge some talented artists to keep it alive and do something inspired by those words !
Friends, if you've been tagged,
grab your cameras and "Guard your light! "
----
”You have this way of seeing the Light in others. You have this way of noticing what is beautiful and unique about those around you. And I just hope you know, the same Light you see within others is shining within you too. You have this way of holding up a mirror to others and making sure they feel seen, and this is a very valuable thing. But sometimes, that can make you feel a little less seen yourself... a little less valuable, and less important than everyone else. So in case no one told you lately, it’s okay to turn that mirror around and see you for you, too. And know that no matter who does or does not notice you, Light is running wild within you. It shows up in your laughter. Your stories. Your presence. And I am sorry for all the times no one has taken the time to let you know this, in the same way that you have done this for so many others. I just wanted to remind you this is true: the same Light you see in others is shining within you, too.”

Compositionally Challenged Week 20 - Active Space
After looking in my bird books, I think this is a Swainson's Hawk.
We watched the hawk for several minutes while it moved from one branch to another before it took flight carrying a piece of bark.
Life can be challenging and sometimes it challenges you to think afresh about your life, your path, your choices, and how you fit in the world. What do we seriously value? What do we choose to hold our attention and become our focus?
I certainly do not claim to have been everywhere there is to go, or having done everything there is to do. People, as far as I can tell, are people. Cultural details aside, such as language and cuisine, we all are far more similar than different. We have the same needs and desires. Yet most of us focus on the differences and allow them to be used as leverage to build ignorance, fear, hatred, and violence.
I avoid most of the news because it is not uplifting, but I do not live in a bubble, insulated and isolated from reality. It is easy sometimes to ignore the world at large and forget for a while just how horrible people can be to others. I listen to a classic song from 48 years ago and realize that no matter how much I want things to change, they don't necessarily get better. Not by themselves. I have to do something. We have to do something, to make things better.
Instead of focusing on faults and failures, we should focus on our common goals and dreams, learning from and supporting one another. Who are we to pass judgment and condemn anyone?

Your biggest challenge isn't someone else. Its the ache in your lugs and the burining on your legs and the voice inside that yells you "can't" but you don't listen. You just push harder. And then you hear the voice whispers "can". And you discover the person you though you were, is no match for the one you really are.

A little shoreline bokeh dedicated to Phan Ly for a great testimonial she wrote me - thanks and HBW!
Noshinima Midas.
I am introducing a new form of challenge for all the lovely photographers of Second Life. Something that I have been working on for 2 months after being inspired by others that have done similar challenges for their friends. I would like to call this the Challenge at Noshinima's Neighborhood. I am considering making this a regular thing, where every few months I will come up with a new interesting backdrop to challenge more lovely artists in.
Rules and details:
1) I (Noshinima Midas) tag names of great photographers on Second Life. Said photographers that choose to participate in the challenge can come over to my parcel, Noshinima's Neighborhood (link below) and do an image anywhere in my penthouse. You will be allowed two hours to use any pose stands or props that you would like to add and are allowed to bring any friends you want to join you in your shoot. You are also allowed to make the shoot as safe or as adult as you like. The only rule is that you do the shoot within my penthouse. Take your time to have a look around to see where in the house would make a great place for your image.
2) Upload the finished image onto Flickr and place the hashtag #NoshsHoodChallenge on either the title or the description.
3) From there, tag 10 of your friends names (no more, no less) of people that you would also like to see do this challenge that has not yet been tagged by me on this post. Link them to this post and explain the rules to them as well. They must also tag 10 of their friends that they would like to see do this challenge if they themselves choose to participate as well.
I am available every day. If anyone has any questions, comments or would like help in their shoots, be sure to contact me on Flickr or Second Life.
To everyone tagged, remember that once you do the shoot from my penthouse, tag 10 names that you would also like to see do this challenge and use the hashtag #NoshsHoodChallenge

It's mainly very expensive clothes for people who spend summer holidays on boats. With summer over, I don't think there will be many customers. There was only one boat left in the harbour after I saw the last three sailboats leave. The canal will now be closed until next summer.
