Die Stiftung César Manrique befindet sich in einem einzigartigen Gebäude, das von César Manrique bei seiner Rückkehr aus New York selbst entworfen wurde, als er beschloss, sich definitiv in Lanzarote niederzulassen. Während 20 Jahren, von 1968 bis 1988, von dem Künstler bewohnt, ist dies das Haus, in dem er am längsten lebte. Es steht mitten in einem Lavastrom, der durch die großen Vulkanausbrüche entstand, die die Insel zwischen 1730 und 1736 heimsuchten. In diesem Gebäude, das auf einem Grundstück von 30 000 Quadratmetern 3000 Quadratmeter umfasst, ist auf die Beziehung zwischen dem Gebäude und der Natur zu verweisen, die Vulkan und Architektur in einer Verbindung gegenseitigen Respekts verschmelzen lässt.
