Our janitor at work asked if I could look at this and speed it up. My boss said I couldn't spend more than an hour on it. Not much I could do - it's so outdated.
I safely uninstalled as many programs as I could (not knowing what this was used for), and ran CCleaner on it.
Done.

this was via the 'BSEL mod'. that raises the FSB from 200 to 266 (in this case). it can also raise it from 266 to 333 to create a 1333FSB, effective.

Recuerdo como si fuera ayer cuando prendí mi viejo Celeron de 600MHz para abrir frontpage y luego MSPaint para asi dar paso a uno de los proyectos más interesantes que he realizado en mi corta vida. Recuerdo cuando me senté y vi mi archivo "Sin título.html" y fué ahi cuando dije: - ¿Que hago?, ¿Que voy a crear?, me gustaría hacer una pagina web de reviews como los que hace un sitio llamado Mobile-review.com, ¿Que tal si le pongo a mi proyecto ReviewCL?, mmm, muy generico un nombre más original, tiene que empezar con "Mobile"...¿Pero Mobile qué?, luego miré hacia una mesita que estaba al frente de mi PC y veo una lupa al lado de unos oleos que habia hecho en 2do básico y dije "CloseUp". ¡eureka! "CloseUpMobile" yeah...aps, no...tendria que se MobileCloseUp.
Así que empezé a ver que se podia hacer, tenia como gran inspiración lo que habia hecho Radheya (Q.E.P.D.) en Overclockers.cl, un gran foro. Asi que comenzé a acer una pagina en MiArroba y un foro en my-forum.org, posteriormente deseché la idea de hacer algo gratuito y pensé en hacer algo más formal y serio, fué cuando miré mi alcancia de grifo y dije: vamos a tener que invertir un poco de dinero en esto, ingreso a internet (con mis super 128kbps), busco por "Dominios + Hosting" en Google, y me fijé en una oferta en Mercado libre que decía "Dominios.com + Hosting 1GB $8500" inmediatamente Compré, le pedí a mi viejo que depositara la platita (me ahorro la lata de ir en Bici) y en 24 horas ya tenia registrado el dominio que hacia unos meses me tenia dando vueltas en la cabeza: "MobileCloseUp.com", junto a eso venia el hosting que era Dattatec.
Tenia un amigo el cual conocia mucho de foros así que lo contacté y desde el primer momento puso toda su disposición para mi humilde proyecto: el es Mr.VIP. Instalé un foro Invision 1.3 y luego le pedí a el si lo podia configurar, lo dejó practicamente tiqui-taca, funcionando y con los foros hechos, tan solo faltaba Spamear otros foros para que conocieran a MCU (el adminsitrador que diga que no ha hecho eso es "un mentirosillo"), mientras Mr.VIP se daba la lata de hacer eso, yo en FrontPage diseñaba una portada para el sitio que tenia elementos muy apreciados por mi en esa epoca: Graficas hechas en MSPaint, código escrito desde la ultima a la primera linea para que solo se leyera en Internet Explorer -no sabia de eso hasta que conocí Firefox- y mucho amor y dedicación (tanto así que me perdí varias fiestas y cumpleaños porque se me iba la hora en el PC).
MR Vip en ese entonces reunia a staff para poder llevar adelante el foro y estaba Jinxe, Darkangel, Yorch, Demian.
El primer portal que hice para MCU era practicamente in-indexeable, tenia Marcos y no tenia ni una sóla linea de HTML válida para la W3C, así que poco tiempo despues conocí PHP y Freehand, programas que me recomendó un amigo llamado "Lalocool" por MSN. Finalmente dos meses despues de la Beta del sitio hice la un portal en HTML y que luego lo pasaría a PHP, fué ahi cuando ahi cuando decidí tomar el Freehand y hacer un "nuevo monito" para MCU (en mi PC no corria Freehand asi que le pedí el recién estrenado Athlon +2000 de mi hermano) ahi nació "Mobito" que hasta el dia de hoy nos acompaña.
Se veia bonito y todo, comenzaba a crecer la comunidad pero como muchos seres humanos "el bichito de la ambición te empieza a picar" y quise tener más y más usuarios y asimismo visitas. Busqué en Google metodos para ser indexeado pronto y "más eficazmente" y me encontré con una tecnica llamada Cloacking que consiste en poner gran cantidad de texto con palabras claves en tu sitio -lo cual era trampa-. Yo veia que a pesar que era una trampa habia surtido efectos en sitios tan conocidos en ese entonces como ZonaNokia asi que lo comenzé a usar, hubo un pequeño peak de visitas en el sitio, pero luego veia que Nadie lo visitaba, dije: ¡Que mierxx está pasando! y fué ahi cuando me di cuenta que Google me habia penalizado y no tenia casi nada indexeado en Google. Decidí mientras que se solucionaba la situación diseñaria la 2.0 del sitio que era más que nada una vitrina de lo que tenia el foro, luego la lanzé y felizmente Google me habia levantado el castigo, fué tan bien recibido que incluso El Mercurio se entero de la existencia de MCU y lo publicó en una columna del Cuerpo A (ciencia y tecnologia). (Para ese entonces teniamos 80 o 90 usuarios registrados)
Ahi volvimos a elegir Staff y Pusimos a: Jorbea, Sebat, Txiko, Cojio, Nicjock entre otros y para complementar esta ola de cambios decidí cambiarme de hosting a uno Estado Unidense llamado Hostifex.
Ya para el 2006 me fijé que MCU necesitaba un CMS como portal (sistema de manejamiento de contenidos) y llegue a poner MKPORTAL -que hasta el dia de hoy nos acompaña y en un par de semanas le diremos adiós-. Luego comenzamos a tener más visitas 50 visitas diarias, luego 100, incluso me llamaron para que escribiera unos articulos en la revista .NET (¡estabamos bien indexeados porque llegaron a nosotros!). Las visitas iban en aumento, así que decidi plantear una meta al sitio (que en pocas palabras era un deseo muy personal) llegar a los 1000 usuarios para finales del 2006 y efectivamente llegamos a los 1000 usuarios el 31 de diciembre del 2006. (Pocos dias antes de ese 31 de diciembre la empresa de hosting Symbox me habia contactado para ofrecern su auspicio mediante hosting con Enlace nacional y un servidor recién estrenado, sin más, acepté!).
En ese entonces -finales 2006- el compañero que me habia acompañado durante mucho tiempo (Mr.VIP) entraba a la Universidad y decidió dejar el cargo de Admin del sitio.
El 2007 fué el año en el que MCU salió a la luz:
A principios de año se unió un tipo que seria un factor importante para el Auge en materia de contenido del sitio, el es Takuru (Claudio), el fué el que reformó totalmente la linea editorial del sitio, si bien era un poco acido en sus comentarios eso fue lo que incitaba a la participacion y la discusión en los foros con lo cual ayudó a la madurez de este. Ese año nos llamaron para cubrir algunos eventos y empezabamos a salir en varios Blogs conocidos. Salimos en Gizmodo, Engadget, JustAmp, Mobile-review, IntoMobile y un par de páginas más por algunas noticias y articulos que publicamos y causaron sensación, eso definitivamente queria decir "lo estamos haciendo bien", comenzamos a ser indexeados como se debia y comenzamos a tener más usuarios y más visitas y lo que en un principio eran 100 visitas diarias, se transformaron en 5000 y llegamos a los 3000 usuarios.
Y así llegamos a 22 de Febrero del 2008 con un Staff muy sólido y usuarios muy fieles, gracias, muchas pero muchas gracias a todos, a mi familia, a mi hermano -que siempre me apoya-, a mi viejo (por aperrar en todas), a mi vieja por ayudarme y darme buenas vibras, a la Jenny, hamster (Q.E.P.D) por haberme acompañado en las horas de desarrollo del sitio, gracias a Dios y los seres divinos y GRACIAS PERO MUCHAS GRACIAS A TODOS USTEDES por habernos visitado, confiado, por compartir y por estar siempre en las buenas y en las malas. Este es un logro de todos, viva MCU viva Mobito.
SALUD!.... nos vemos pronto en la 4.0! y recuerda acompañarnos en nuestro asado de celebración de los 3 años de MCU, lo pasarás muy bien y si eres nuevo ¡que importa!, ve de todas maneras lo pasarás increible.

•Design
A ce niveau de prix, l’Acer R13 rentre en concurrence avec des ordinateurs Windows tels que l’Asus E402, dotés de constructions en plastique.
Tout le contraire de ce chromebook, entièrement en aluminium et donc logiquement plutôt lourd à 1,5 kilogrammes. La seul exception est la charnière qui me semble être en plastique. Cette dernière inspire plutôt confiance, mais il vaut mieux la manier avec précaution, d’autant qu’elle manque de fermeté et laisse l’écran trembler lorsque l’on utilise l’écran tactile en mode ordinateur standard. Rien de grave, mais c’est un problème.
De plus, on peut manipuler l’écran et le positionner dans n’importe quel angle souhaité.
Globalement, le design de cet ordinateur est très réussi et vous vaudra de nombreux compliments, notamment pour sa finesse.
•Image et son
En plus d’une excellente apparence, l’Acer R13 dispose d’un écran Full HD IPS de 13,3 pouces tactile et multitouch. L’écran est de bonne facture et dispose d’une colorimétrie correcte, de quoi manipuler ses photos sans s’inquiéter.
A aucun moment je n’ai ressenti le besoin d’augmenter la luminosité au delà de 50% de son maximum, ce qui est un vrai plus.
Au niveau du son, il n’y a pas grand chose à dire. La prise jack fait son boulot et les hauts parleurs latéraux (sur les tranches droites et gauches) suffisent pour des vidéos, mais pas pour de la musique. Le volume sonore est correct cependant.
•Connectique et performances
La connectique est un autre gros point positif de l’Acer R13. On retrouve un peu de tout: un port USB Type C pour la recharge et le transfert de données, un port USB 3.0, un port HDMI, un slot micro SD et une prise jack. Au niveau du sans fil, il dispose du Wifi AC et évidemment du bluetooth.
Alors oui, un processeur mediatek sur un ordinateur, c’est étrange. Pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas Mediatek, c’est un constructeur qui fabrique des puces en majorité destinées à l’entrée de gamme des smartphones/tablettes. Rassurez-vous, les performances du R13 sont très satisfaisantes. Avec un score de 10 500 sur Octane, le benchmark de Google, cette puce bat sans trop de problème les processeurs Intel Atom, sans égaler les pentium et autre core i3.
Pareil pour la puce graphique: elle fait tourner tous les jeux du Play Store sans sourciller, à vous les parties de Temple Run ou de Candy Crush sur un écran de 13,3 pouces.
•Usages et batterie
Certes, jusque là, ce chromebook semble être un véritable bijou. Il l’est, mais il convient de garder à l’esprit les limites de ChromeOS. Vous pouvez dire adieu à tous les programmes en .exe.
Pour beaucoup d’applications, vous trouverez un équivalent sur la Play store ou le Chrome web store. Je vous recommande par exemple Polarr pour remplacer Lightroom, et la suite Google permet de se passer de la suite Office sans aucun compromis, et le tout gratuitement.
Cependant, beaucoup d’applications ne fonctionnent qu’une fois connecté à internet. Sans Wifi, un Chromebook est vite limité et se contente de lire les contenus que vous aurez stockés sur sa maigre mémoire de 32 gigaoctets.

Had a go installing Xubuntu on the 9 year old home PC ( Celeron 400Mhz, 192MB RAM ). Previously running a dodgy copy of Windows 2000 which was becoming unuseable in terms of speed. Added a new 160GB hard disk into it.
There is an issue with current release of Xubuntu Feisty the paritioning software has some pretty major problems, but the Ubuntu CD worked fine and downloaded the xubuntu desktop for it.
The other problem was the ISA ( NE2000 compatible ) network card which I got working but didn't get the drivers to load on startup which I will have to look at next time.
Its impressive how relatively fast the machine can run and would recommend it as a good way of keep aging hardware useable.
this is memtest86 running on a bare stock celeron 420D chip. stock frequency is 1.6ghz and FSB (front side bus) is 800mhz.
Ripped apart an old computer that I had taking up space in my storage room and pulled the Intel processor. This shot is pretty much right out of the camera. It's suspended in air by a coathanger wire attached to the other side of the chip, and I lit it so the wire wasnt illuminated by the flash.
Plus it's Green and Gold, and the Packers are the division leaders and play this evening. Go Pack!

The awesome throwback to what I used 5 years ago, minus the Carebear stickers. Laura and I bought two of these at $50 a pop off a Charlotte friend. It has a 300 mhz Celeron CPU, nearly 400 mb ram, several SCSI drives, a 4x burner, a cd reader, flakey usb ports, archaic ISA sound card, VooDoo 2 video card, now running Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Herron! :D
It's my basic IRC box, light browsing, and such. Anything that doesn't require sound, resolution above 800 by 600, or speed. :) Went back to this after my Dell OptiPlex GX-150 mini tower case died after a power outage, which itself was not great but had sound, proper video, and more hdd space in Ubuntu and XP.

One of the few partially-loose items inside the case was the CPU. I believe it used to be a Celeron. Every pin melted. You can't see it in this picture, but the fire even warped the packaging.
Enfim, meu note chegou, uma semana antes do previsto... nota 10 para a Dell Brasil, que por sinal me atendeu muito bem inclusive quando tive problemas.
Antes que perguntem: Dell Latitude D510, Celeron M 1.4, HD 40 GB, 512 RAM, DVD-RW, wi-fi, 2,5 kg. Podia ter pego com Pentium M, mas por problemas de recursos tive que optar entre ele e o gravador de DVD.
This model comes with Intel® Celeron® M processor 723 (1.2GHz, 1MB L2, 800MHz FSB) processor. I will be using this notebook for emails, word processing, chatting, etc. Nothing that uses a lot of processing power.

This is the place in the middle of the part that is glued. The part where the grain is horizontal is the nosing -- that's like the edge of the 2nd floor flooring where it meets the staircase. The part with the vertical "grain" is the laminate floor. The beige thing on top part of the picture is, of course, my old dual Celeron 500.
Our contractor says that our builder went the way of the cheap and did not get the correct nosing for laminate flooring. Originally, the correct nosing would have the grove necessary for the tongue/groove system of the laminate floor -- such that the flooring is secured to the edge of the nosing and would not flex like what I have experienced. Instead the builder just got regular nosing as if we had carpet. So the floating laminate is free to move up and down and is not secured. Our only solution to, say, me constantly triping is to glue the flooring down or nail it down.. I chose the glue. One more day, and I'll remove the computers.
