2 different types of BSEL mod.
on the left is the Q6600 quad-core chip weighing in at $199 (microcenter price).
on the right, a celeron 420d (conroe style single core) weighing in at a mere $42.
both had their FSB (front side bus) raised. the q6600 went from 266mhz to 333mhz; and the celeron went from 200mhz to 266mhz.
on the q6600, you simply tape over one single pad. that's it. very very simple.
on the celeron, you have to use conductive paint as found at auto parts stores (windshield rear defogger repair kits). this mod is a bit harder than the tape-over pad mod.
both give very stable overclocks using stock cooling (set to lowest speed, btw) and stock voltages. both were overclocked on non-overclock motherboards (both used intel boards).
(word wrap on black tape was just me having some pshop fun) ;)

here is the 'paint' you use to connect the dots:
farm4.static.flickr.com/3270/2506529822_3e1ef348dd_o.jpg
and here is what it looks like after you paint, let the cpu run in a system for a while and then remove the chip to examine the paint:

Ecco il mio piccolo rack casalingo!
Rack Madness è un termine preso in prestito da www.OpenBSD.org; non riuscirò mai a realizzare un rack al loro livello ;)
All'appello mancano: il mio adorato Apple PowerBook G4 12" con OS X 10.4, un pc Celeron 2,5 Ghz con Fedora Core 4, ed il vecchio portatile PIII 700Mhz con Fedora Core 3.

WNYP ME-1 turns the corner at Celeron with C424 #435 leading the way. While having been on the property almost as long as the rest of her four axle sisters, 435 is the most recent to be painted in WNYP's classy black and yellow scheme. Almost a year later and the unit is still a little clean.
For some sick reason, the past month or so has seen a crisis of abundnace in (old) SGI stuff showing up at my home office.
Here we have an R5000 Indy, an R4000 Indigo Elan, and an R4400 Indigo2 Extreme, among other assorted garbage cluttering up the end of my desk.

Lucille Ball was born in Celeron, a small town adjacent to Jamestown on Lake Chautauqua a few miles to the south of Chautauqua Institution. She is buried in Jamestown.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia....
Lucille Désirée Ball (August 6, 1911–April 26, 1989) was an iconic American actor, comedian and star of I Love Lucy. A 'B-grade' movie star of the 1930s and 1940s, she later achieved tremendous success as a television actress, and became one of, if not the most, popular stars the medium has ever produced.
Sadly I have to give it back to the person who paid for it in the first place. And I can't open it.
But hey, first time I've ever seen a Lenovo box in person. And they're a lot smaller then the old IBM Thinkpad boxes, eg, the one my dad got in 2002-ish. :D
Unposted, unused. Another view of the famous double-deck tram used on this popular ride to Chautauqua Lake from Jamestown. The unusual double-deck car "Columbia" was built in 1892 and was demonstrated at the World Columbian Exposition in Chicago. It was bought by the owner of the Jamestown Street Railway and entered serviced in 1893. It was reported to have ceased service in 1917/18 and stored until 1923 but then scrapped.
Sadly I have to give it back to the person who paid for it in the first place. And I can't open it.

This is an Intel Celeron D 340, it has a base clock of 2.93GHz, uses the NetBurst architecture, SSPEC of SL7Q9 and 256KB of L2 Cache. I suspect that this chip actually has 1MB of cache onboard, but 3/4 of it is disabled since my old die-shot of the same architecture flic.kr/p/2iQ3Xw1 has 2MB of cache and the cache is only twice as big.
This chip architecture is capable of executing 64bit instructions, but this particular chip only runs 32bit. From what I can gather online it seems Intel did not want to compete with their 64bit Itanium processors which are server CPUs. Intel knew that AMD was about to switch to 64bit so they made sure they had something on hand to compete with them when they did.

This Toshiba A15-S129 is available for swap. Details, if you are a ham radio person: I want to trade a Toshiba Satellite A15-S129 notebook computer for an antenna analyzer.
The Computer:
Celeron 2.4 GHz 400 MHz system bus clock speed
13 by 11.5 by 1.5 inches
6.3 pounds
40 GB hard disk
15-inch active-matrix display (1024x768 maximum resolution
DVD/CD-RW
two USB ports
integrated 56K modem
RJ-45 LAN network port
PCMCIA port (1)
The system fan buzzes when it starts up and after about 3-5 minutes quiets to normal and functions normally. There are about a dozen weird pixels where the screen has touched the touchpad over time all within a 1cm spot, and one 1-pixel-wide vertical line on the monitor. (Photographs show this.)
This would make an excellent PC for portable digital ops, and is a fine general-purpose second machine.

I am looking for an MFJ antenna analyzer, or one of another type if you wish to suggest one.
Thanks,

I replaced the keyboard and added a new operating system. This EEEPC is now over 6 years old and running fine (4 GB SSD, 1 GB RAM, 900 MHz Intel Celeron M). See My Computer Notebook.
