One of the joys of a platform such as Flickr is the ability to exercise complete control over the content. In my work as a commercial artist, I am subject to the oversight of clients. It's frustrating at times to see one of my layouts altered to fit the whim of someone else. It's not that constructive criticism is unwelcome. It gets to me most often when sound design principles are discarded with the result is a muddled or confusing outcome. I've developed a thick skin for this sort of thing over the years. And ultimately the person paying for my services does have the final say. You might think those experiences would make me more sensitive to reinterpreting the work off other artists. If do, you'd be mistaken. I do this all the time and think nothing of it. Of course the artists involved are blissfully unaware. As a case in point I happily co-opted this statue of playful kids. I'm quite certain it was intended as a joyful presentation. I just think somewhere along the way it went wrong. Perhaps in the translation of living beings to cast metal. It's not so much that something was lost as it was something undesirable gained. I recall that hideous statue of Lucille Ball that was erected in Celeron New York some years ago. Truly frightful, and at the top of the "what were they thinking" category. I'm drifting a bit here, but the point is metal sculpting people is truly an art form as much as it is a technical skill. In the case of these kids, my overall impression was a rather dystopian feel. I'd studied the sculpture for years (from the perspective of a passing car), and had imagined one day stopping to photograph it. Along came Covid and someone decided it would be appropriate to slap face masks on the kids. I felt that ruined the look I was going for (probably a missed opportunity in retrospect) and so deferred for another year. A couple of weeks ago the masks disappeared and I knew this was my moment. It's always weird, that first close inspection of something you've only driven by. There's always a twist...something you hadn't noticed or imagined. Here it was the viewing angle. The sculpture sits at ground level, intended to be viewed in the way adults might look down at real children. I found the sculpture took on an entirely different dimension viewed from a low angle looking up. Only from here was the true artistry of the sculptor realized. In terms of placement, the sculpture is jammed right up to a brick wall that supports a sign. Another huge mistake as whoever placed the statute failed to comprehend the effect of negative space surrounding it. So here's the sculpture, reinteprrted to reveal its gracefulness, yet preserve the post-apocalyptic feeling that brought me here in the first place. Just like the clients that revise my layouts, I'm convinced my way is superior.

Day 159/365

Theme: Lady in Black - Blackmore's Night [Nightcore]

Love the contrast between the light and darkness in this pic.

Wanted to go with a fun, albeit 'dark' song for this one. Blackmore's Night's original version is pretty cool, but a Nightcore version is just too fun to pass up. =~.^=

Introductions

I live in Jamestown, NY which is right next to Lucy's birthplace in Celeron, NY. This is the newer statue of Lucille Ball-there still is also a very scary looking Lucy statue. (Google it)

It is kind of a cool thing because I think it was Instrumental getting Jamestown to have the National Comedy Center which is a pretty amazing attraction for our small town.

Memorial Park is the site of an amusement park 1893 to 1962, known as the Celeron Amusement park where Lucille Ball worked as a teenager selling hot dogs. A tornado tore through the park in 1959, destroying many rides, and the park was dismantled in 1962

Inverno 1988, celerone (solo posta celere) Bari - Milano

Theme: Under A Violet Moon - Blackmore's Night

It had been a while since I had a decent reason to take on this theme and song. About the first was some time around 2008, when I had moved the original home tree in Second Life to it's last location. I suppose it's a sentimental sort of thing for a year, among other things, long lost.

I almost used a link to a version on YouTube that was an Inuyasha fan sub. Really, the only reason I would have put it up is the nostalgia, considering that, when I started SL, it was about the time that Combat: Samurai Island was a big thing. Granted, Inuyasha is an inu, and Ioh has always been neko, but I somewhat stylized Ioh with something of a cross between Ruroni Kenshen and Inuyasha, wearing a Hamaka and all that. Also was into the Lunar RP series at the time, so Ioh's blade was called Eternal Blue. <.<

Anyways, just a few memories...

Thats an Intel Celeron Processor upside down !

UPDATE: Movers will finally be delivering all our stuff as of 11/30! FINALLY.

I'm too eager to be back. I've been limping along on an old celeron laptop, which allowed me to log in at a whopping 1.5fps.

Pretty much all of this. I should have dependable connectivity back by the 22nd (for at least phone & tablet).

Friday: Movers. Cleaning. Collapsing.

Saturday: Get up. Be sore AF. Drive 8hrs. Rest.

Sunday: Get up. Be hopefully less sore. Drive ~6hrs. Rest.

Monday: GET HOUSE. Hopefully have mattress delivered later that day.

Tuesday: Get ... some furniture. A few things delivered locally.

Wednesday: Net people.

... sometime after that: the actual large truck with the rest of our items.

Hopefully by the end of the week.

Day 320/365

365: The 2021 Edition

English Translation: In the year 1749, reign of Louis XV, King of France, we, Celeron, commandant of a detachment sent by Monsieur the Marquis de La Gelissoniere, Commandant-General of New France—to re-establish tranquility in some Indian villages of these cantons have buried this plate at the mouth of the Chinodashhichetha, the 18th August, near the River Ohio, otherwise beautiful river as a monument of renewal of possession which we have taken of the said river Ohio and of all of those that fall into it, and of all lands on both sides as far as the sources of said rivers; the same was enjoyed, by the preceding King of France, and that they have maintained it by their arms and by treaties especially by those of Ryswick, Utrecht and Aix-La-Chapelle.

So what's it look like all put together? Well, fortunately, it came out very well the first time uploaded. :3

In earlier versions, the shoulders didn't come out right. Now that MakeHuman has modified their poses and bones a bit, the current official download (1.0.2) comes out nicely after doing the adjustments in Blender. However, I hear the nightly builds are getting better with adjusting internally in MakeHuman, so that, hopefully, by the time of the next official release people will be able to export directly out of Makehuman to SL and/or the Opensim grid of their choice. That's all cool, but, the one thing that MakeHuman lacks at the moment is a viable gallery of default material options for hair styles, clothing, etc. This is why I look into Avastar since it has been a standard for creating clothes and avatars, including for non-human options for quite some time. Not to mention there are further adjustments that Avastar can do to help shape the avatar model even more to how I'd like for my characters to appear, with the right weights and all that for clothing and the like.

Anyways, here's a run down of the credits:

Hair: *ARGRACE* Peyton A [resize] - Ash Blonde By Rika Oyen

Tail: MT - Feline Tail - Flat 1.1 by Moy Loon with a modified texture that I created.

AO: ::: ED ::: NekoBoy AO

The mesh body I named MH Ioh - Fully Clothed (Bald). The (bald) part was because I initially uploaded it with one of the default male hair meshes in MakeHuman's materials, and, as can be seen by the blond hair on Ioh's head, I decided to go with one of the hair options in Ioh's inventory. So yes, prim and mesh hairs that are not rigged work well with MakeHuman avatars. =~.^=
