This was the room we stayed in on our first night in Saint John. It was called the Veranda Room. It was actually a huge beautiful room, but I liked how this photo turned out... It kinda feels like our time there. It was sooo rainy and dark out. We arrived around 4 in the afternoon, had a bath, and fell asleep until almost 9! And then we had quite a time trying to find dinner that late... But we did, eventually.

The things I like best about Jimmy Johns:

2. Jalapeno potato chips
3. The Unwich (sub wrapped in lettuce instead of bread)
4. The humorous signs on the walls
The view from my brother's dishwasher. That's me sitting at the table. Can't remember how long this exposure was, but it was long enough for me to go sit down and be in the picture.
...the fans just push hot air down onto the crowd....the auctioneer's microphone phases in and out depending on where he stands. There's a brittle scent to the air that closes off the throat and promises a late-night headache....NOW FIVE NOW FIVE DO I HEAR SIX NOW FIVE.....head bowed, the clerk barely looks up as the runners bring her the sale tags and buyer's number....FIVEFIVEFIVE ONCE....FIVE.....TWICE.....
Captured this ceiling fan with my Droid and adjusted the exposure, contrast and converted to B&W with PRO Paint Camera app.

From the early '70s, with the three-speed, 1.9 amp shaded pole motor and pot metal trumpet canopy. Within the next few years the switch housing would change shape slightly, the pot metal trumpet canopy replaced with a shorter, two-piece plastic one, and the fans would start to be marketed more for residential use as "The Original Olde Tyme Ceiling Fan," later shortened to simply "The Original."

(Another) friend had to move out of her rental apartment when her building was sold. They're turning it into condos. In the meantime, it was a bunch of scary, soon to be gutted, abandoned apartments.
