It seems the 5 Tuckers found in the warehouse is only part of an ongoing intrigue. Along with a number of other photos and documents found on the premises, these two transparencies came to light and caused a sensation in Elgin Park.

The entrepreneur, who back in 1950 clearly invested time, money and creative talent trying to produce a Tucker related vehicle, still remains unknown.

Aside from the What, Where, How and Why of it all is the burning question:

Do these two prototypes still exist?

Oh, the possibilities!

On a different note, the creation of these two front end designs were achieved by digging through my parts box plus a little bit of modeling.

The "prow front" was cobbled together by forming an arch out of thin styrene, fitted with a rounded vertical strip of plastic in the front, then placed over the center headlight.

The "bullet nose" style was created with a brass grommet and a hemisphere of styrene.

As for the egg crate grille, it was taken from a broken Cadillac diecast and trimmed to the appropriate shape.

The fender skirt is a piece of styrene fitted into the wheel opening and painted the body color.

A few other changes include;

- Removing the rectangular turn signals and substituting round, milk glass fixtures close to the headlights.

-Adding a short chrome bumper-ette above the grille on the Prow Nose prototype

and a long chrome bumper-ette that connects the two round turn signals on the Bullet Nose prototype.

-On both of the models, half bumpers were installed onto the main bumper unit for a more massive look.

-A chrome trim spear along the front fender and a chrome trim piece below the doors to create a longer, lower appearance.

-The air intake vent, on the rear fender of the bullet nose, was painted the body color to create a smoother appearance.

It was a very interesting project for me because the Tucker is such an iconic vehicle.

I wanted the alterations to be sensitive to the original Tucker/ Tremulis design, yet address the changing style that was starting to emerge in the industry at the time.

Description

The Ribble Group caused a stir in 1959 when the first 'Gay Hostess' Weymann bodied Leyland Atlantean PDR1/1 MCK 812 entered service and became the first PSV to join the M1 on the Luton stretch the day that the first part of the M1 opened- 2nd November 1959. Ribble seen that with the opening of both the Preston Bypass (M6) in 1958 and the M1 a year later that for the first time coaches could compete against other forms of transport, due to no upper speed limit on motorways. Ribble wanted to carry more passengers than a 30ft single deck coach could carry and offer luxury that had never been seen on coaches. The Gay Hostess Weymann Atlantean double deck coaches featured 50 armchair type Chapman seats CH34/16FT, at the rear of the lower deck was a toilet and servery unit. Luggage was stored over the front near-side wheel arch, under the stairs and at the rear of the lower deck. The Atlantean was powered by the larger 0.680 engine producing 150bhp and driving through a semi automatic gearbox, air suspension was fitted on the front axle. These fine coaches could cruise at 64mph, the air suspension was later removed and replaced with leaf suspension. The name Gay Hostess meant happy hostess, as each vehicle would carry a hostess or steward who would serve food, drinks and cigarettes during the journey, Ribble wanted to give the airline feeling to the Gay Hostess. 36 production Gay Hostess Atlanteans entered service between 1960 and 1961 and allocated to the Ribble and Standerwick fleet, four even entered service with Scout, all 37 were later transferred to Standerwick. With the arrival of the VRLs resulted in the Gay Hostesses been withdrawn and sold. My photograph shows the 36th Gay Hostess VFR 378 at Victoria Coach Station 1967, having just arrived on the Keswick London service. The Ribble Vehicle Preservation Trust owns SFV 421, a few weeks ago there was an article in the Lancashire Evening Post about the last suriving Gay Hostess and the RVPT are asking for £150,000 to save it.

This treatment fixes stickiness in doll hair caused by glue seepage, greasy doll hair (from oil based hair products or straight up oil), and stiff hair (caused from too much hair product like gel or hair spray). If regular shampoos and boil washes do not fix these issues for you, this treatment does the trick!

SUPPLIES

-Bowl

-Oxy Clean powder (substitute for equal parts hydrogen peroxide and washing soda)

-Fine tooth comb

-Dish soap/shampoo

STEPS

#1: Wash and condition your doll's hair first if you feel like it is dirty or if the doll has hardness from glue seepage. It helps to get off any excess product or glue beforehand. However you can skip this step if your doll has already recently been cleaned.

#2: Heat up water in the microwave for a few minutes. The water does not have to be bubbling, but I prefer it to be the same temperature I would usually do for a boil wash.

#3: Add in around one to two teaspoons of Oxy Clean powder (or more if your doll has very thick hair), or the hydrogen peroxide/washing soda substitute (make sure you use the same amount of both).

#4: Make sure all the powder is evenly mixed and fully dissolved. Use your comb to stir it if necessary.

#5: Dunk the doll's head into the water/Oxy Clean mix. Let him/her sit in the water for a little bit, and then remove the doll and comb the hair with your fine tooth comb.

#5: Repeat this process several times. Basically you are boil washing the doll, but in this special treatment.

#6: Once you have spent a few minutes combing the doll's hair out, let him/her sit in the water for at least an hour. It won't hurt if you leave the doll in overnight.

#7: Once you have let your doll soak for the desired amount of time, rinse the Oxy Clean out thoroughly. Make sure to get it all out using dish soap or shampoo. I like to wash the doll's hair at least twice after this treatment.

#8: Let the doll air dry, and voila, his/her hair should be fixed! If you would like, you can condition the doll's hair before letting them dry, but this step isn't necessary, as the Oxy Clean leaves it shiny and soft.

***IMPORTANT NOTES***

*The active ingredients in Oxy Clean are washing soda and peroxide. This is why you can make your own solution if Oxy Clean is not available to you. I personally recommend buying the actual powder as it can be found at dollar stores for just $1 and has scents added to it.

*This treatment can be repeated for very stubborn dolls. Consider the length/thickness of the doll's hair when choosing the amount of Oxy Clean powder to use. More will be needed for a doll with thick or very long hair.

*You will want a decently sized bowl for this treatment so the doll's hair has plenty of room to spread out and soak in the mixture. If you attempt to do this in a very small mug or bowl, you won't get the same results.

*I personally recommend the powder Oxy Clean rather than the liquid kind as it seems more potent, but you can certainly see if the liquid version works for you.

*For dolls with kanekalon hair, make sure the hot water is not too warm, as this hair type is more heat sensitive. Sometimes it will ball up in a boil wash if it is too hot, and while this is easily fixed, it will take you more time in the long run to sort out your doll's hair.

*The doll's head does not need to be removed for this treatment. However if you are concerned about more glue leaking from the inside of their scalps, feel free to remove their heads and let the mixture get inside their scalps.

*This treatment is safe, and should not harm your doll. I personally try not to let their face paint get into the water as a precaution, but there is no reason it will remove paint (I've accidentally gotten some on my dolls' faces before without incident).

*This treatment should also be safe for you to handle. If you have very sensitive skin, feel free to wear gloves. I have skin that tends to react badly to chemicals, but I've never had any issues handling the dolls while doing this treatment. Always make sure that the residue is fully washed off your hands and your doll when you are done.

*It's very important to take the time to comb the solution through the doll's hair as it helps evenly distribute it. This will ensure that you will most likely only have to do one soak.

*This treatment will leave your doll's hair smelling like the Oxy Clean, so make sure you pick a scent you like! If you use the hydrogen peroxide/washing soda solution, your doll will not be scented.

Notre-Dame, Paris, France.

Notre-Dame is a cathedral of Catholic worship, seat of the archdiocese of Paris, the capital of France. Dedicated to the Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus Christ, it is located on the small island of la Cité, surrounded by the waters of the River Seine. It is one of the most popular monuments in the French capital.

It is one of the most outstanding and oldest buildings of all those built in the Gothic style. The innovative use of the rib vault and the flying buttress, the huge and colorful rose windows and the naturalism and abundance of sculptural decoration differentiate it from Romanesque architecture.

Its construction began in the year 1163 and, by 1260, it was already completed for the most part, although it was finished in the year 1345 and it was modified frequently throughout the following centuries, due to renovation needs and also due to the evolution of the dominant taste. In 1786 the central spire, damaged by inclement weather, had to be dismantled. During the 1790s, after the French Revolution, Notre Dame was desecrated and suffered the theft and dispersal of many of its assets as well as the desecration of part of its religious imagery, which was damaged and destroyed. After being used as a warehouse in 1802, its use was returned to the Catholic Church thanks to Napoleon Bonaparte, who would crown himself emperor at Notre Dame two years later. All in all, the temple survived in modest conditions until the publication in 1831 of Our Lady of Paris, a novel written by Victor Hugo and whose main setting was Notre Dame, revived popular interest in the old Parisian cathedral. The architect Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, defender of the nascent neo-Gothic style, led a restoration project that began in 1845 and lasted for a quarter of a century; This intervention, too daring according to some historians, not only repaired damaged ornaments but also incorporated entirely new elements, such as a new 96-meter-high spire and the now-famous Chimeras, and demolished the surrounding buildings. Already in 1963, the façade was cleaned of soot, thus recovering its original color. A new clean-up and restoration campaign was carried out between 1991 and 2000, but the building still needed interventions elsewhere, such as its central spire, and (after difficulties in raising funding) repairs were reactivated in 2019.

On April 15, 2019, the building suffered significant damage due to a fire; Two thirds of the roof were destroyed, the central spire of Viollet-le-Duc fell and the rose windows were damaged. The fire may have been caused by carelessness during the renovation work being carried out, but this assumption is subject to an investigation now underway.

After global warming caused the Earth to flood, covering nearly every inch of land on the planet, the citizens of Earth 31 took to the seas. In a world of pirates, these people are protected by the crew of the Flying Fox, including Captain Leatherwing and the Warlock Royal.

I know a Pirate Batman minifig already exists, but I don't have it, and I can't imagine too many of you are chomping at the bit to see amateur photographs of the figures you already bought 😅 Besides, why not take a new crack? I'm not crazy about how generic it looks, but it's actually a lot closer to Leatherwing than the official figure, which was going for a different pirate version of the Dark Knight. Also: they don't have a name for the Wonder Woman yet, so don't ask.

'cause he don't get any mail.

I've been shooting these trains for a long time. My friend Clem says they may soon be gone. It seems a lot of the old treasures are going by the wayside these days. The title of this picture is a tribute to an old folk singer, national treasure and someone who played a formative role in my life - at a time when I needed one desperately. I miss him.

Make a living, not a killing.

Richmond is a market town and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England and the administrative centre of the district of Richmondshire. Historically in the North Riding of Yorkshire, it is 16 miles (26 km) from the county town of Northallerton and situated on the eastern edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and is one of the park's tourist centres. The population of Richmond according to the 2011 United Kingdom census is 8,413.

The Rough Guide describes the town as 'an absolute gem'. Betty James wrote that "without any doubt Richmond is the most romantic place in the whole of the North East [of England]". Richmond was the winner of the Academy of Urbanism's "Great Town" award in 2009. [Wikipedia]

However Richmondshire's reputation is forever stained by its population voting 57% for Brexit in 2016 causing much self inflicted economic harm to the United Kingdom

Aloha kākou! Hello, everyone! Happy Friday!

I've had these pics for a month or so now, sometimes I get some pics taken but don't get the time to post them. This is a beautiful dress that I picked up at an event a month or two back.

I love the combination of the short hem and the high neck. It's just perfect for wearing with leggings... or a lovely racy feeling with bare legs! For these pics, though, I paired it up with a couple different pairs of tights from Alaska Metro <3

The right shoulder is a tinted opaque panel. Colours are sold separately, but I kinda just had to pick up a few of the available colours. I really love the purple and the black here! Each version is available in two options: with and without stars on the opaque (coloured) portion of the dress.

I wish you all a wonderful Friday full of stars!

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness

Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun

Conspiring with him how to load and bless

With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;

To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,

And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;

To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells

With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,

And still more, later flowers for the bees,

Until they think warm days will never cease,

For Summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells. --To Autumn. by John Keats

-

Homelessness is devastating, dangerous and isolating.

The average age of death for people experiencing homelessness is 45 for men and 43 for women, according to the Office of National Statistics.

People sleeping on the street are almost 17 times more likely to have been victims of violence. More than one in three people sleeping rough have been deliberately hit or kicked or experienced some other form of violence whilst homeless.

Homeless people are over nine times more likely to take their own life than the general population.

-

People become homeless for lots of different reasons. There are social causes of housing insecurity and homelessness, such as a lack of affordable housing, poverty and unemployment; and life events which push people into homelessness.

People are forced into homelessness when they leave prison, care or the army with no home to go to. Many women experiencing homelessness have escaped a violent or abusive relationship.

Many people become homeless because they can no longer afford the rent.

And for many, life events like a relationship breaking down, losing a job, mental or physical health problems, or substance misuse put people under considerable strain. Being homeless can, in turn, make many of these problems even harder to resolve.

Types of homelessness

Rough sleeping

Rough sleeping is the most visible and dangerous form of homelessness. The longer someone experiences rough sleeping the more likely they are to face challenges around trauma, mental health and drug misuse.

Statutory homelessness

Local authorities have a duty to secure a home for some groups of people. This is often referred to as the main homelessness duty. Every year, tens of thousands of people apply to their local authority for homelessness assistance.

To be legally defined as homeless you must either lack a secure place in which you are entitled to live or not reasonably be able to stay. However, in order to receive assistance under the main homelessness duty, there are further strict criteria that you have to meet. Local authorities may initially provide temporary accommodation to households who might meet these criteria, mainly families with children.

Hidden homelessness

Many people who are not entitled to help with housing, or who don't even approach their councils for help, aren't counted in the official statistics. This is why Crisis carries out its annual study on core homelessness.

Many stay in hostels, squats or B&Bs, in overcrowded accommodation or 'concealed' housing, such as the floors or sofas of friends and family.

At risk of homelessness

Some people are more at risk of being pushed into homelessness than others. People in low paid jobs, living in poverty and poor quality or insecure housing are more likely to experience homelessness.

the single best mural in all of seattle. by the infamous CAUSE. By Any Means suckaaaas!

A random sign seen at the end of the West 4th St station platform on the A, C, E & B, D, F, M lines in downtown Manhattan.

At first I wondered why this sign was here. It's obviously not for the passengers. After doing as little research I believe I found the answer.

The sign is positioned approximately were a typical train will stop and the motorman's window would be along side the sign.

The sign indicates colors for the "home signal" immediately ahead of this sign (perhaps 25 feet). Home signals indicate which way a train will go when passing through a switch. Green-over-Green typically means the train will travel straight through the switch (directly forward), and Green-over-Yellow means the train will "diverge" or take the track to the side (switch). However in this case, this signalling is reversed according to the track maps. Green-over-Green will switch in this case, and Green-over-Yellow will go straight. Some scribbling on the sign indicate where the different lines go for each lineup. The V, K, & H lines are retired and no longer run.

For the curious, "WD END" sign indicates "End of Wheel Detector" zone. From what I can find, the wheel detector is a speed sensing device used to control runaway or over speed trains. A train coming into the station too fast would be detected, and a "train stop" would be raised causing the brakes to be activated and forcing the train to a stop.

I'm not sure whether it was the box, the shadow or the brick-coloured tones which caused my shutter finger to twitch at this moment!
