This vid contains two clips, one short capture from Monday showing the blue tit catching a small fly that had ventured into the box, and then a second from today.
When I first saw the second clip, I immediately thought it had seen an insect again, and I was straining to see the invisible prey. I should have paid more attention to the wing-spreading.
It was only on subsequent viewing that I noticed the significance of the entrance hole to the box going into shade. If you watch closely there is a very brief glimpse of a beak (when the clock in the top right says 12:59:57).
Not sure what was at the hole, but clearly my little resident was ready to defend itself! And having frightened off the would-be intruder, it wound down by throwing its crap around the box. :-)
On our holiday Page, Arizona was a mandatory stop as I wanted to visit one of the slot canyons, or more if possible! Upper Antelope Canyon is called Tsé bighánílíní, "the place where water runs through rocks" by the Navajo. The Antelope Canyons are located in the Navajo Nation and to visit the slot canyon you must use a tour guide that has been authorized by the Navajo Nation.
During the winter months the light is so low on the horizon that the light does not get down into the slot canyons very often in the day. Capturing a shaft of light is more involved than it appears to be. To be able to see the light from the side, the light must reflect off of something on its way to the ground. This is accomplished by a guide standing behind one of the curved walls throwing a large scoopful of super fine sand into the air into the path of the light . . . and the shaft of light is revealed . . . click!
On the downside is the fact that I am standing relatively close with my camera and lens while scoopfuls of super fine powdery sand are thrown in the air . . . what could go wrong!
"Antelope Canyon was formed by erosion of Navajo Sandstone, primarily due to flash flooding and secondarily due to other sub-aerial processes. Rainwater, especially during monsoon season, runs into the extensive basin above the slot canyon sections, picking up speed and sand as it rushes into the narrow passageways. Over time the passageways eroded away, making the corridors deeper and smoothing hard edges in such a way as to form characteristic "flowing" shapes in the rock." The description from Wikipedia
Posting every day, I find naming the images the hardest part. Having thousands of Snowy Owl's on file, one runs out of ideas...

Inspired by the third book in my favorite book series, Catching Moondrops by Jennifer Erin Valent. They house my favorite male fictional character ever, Luke Talley. If I could marry a fictional character, he'd be the one.

Good morning. For me there is probably no butterfly more apt to make an eye-catching butterfly image than the Orange Sulphur (Colias eurytheme). The frustrating thing with Orange Sulphurs for many people is the small to medium size and the fact they are very, very flighty. But when captured as here feeding on this perfect setting of wild Golden Aster (Heterotheca camporum) you feel a sense of accomplishment to be able to showcase one of these truly beautiful butterflies for everyone.
Just this single posting today as yours truly will be kind of hit or miss here this weekend after this morning. Need to help hubbie get the car ready for tomorrow's carshow, which unfortunately looks iffy due to questionable weather. Hopefully not.
Thank you for stopping by...and I hope you have a truly great Saturday and weekend. And for those of you here in the States...wishing you a most wonderful Labor Day Holiday. Enjoy and be safe in whatever you do.

There were a few people surfing at the surfing area on the beach one day when we went there, well to be honest they were learner surfers and were not catching to many waves, took a few shots but not really happy with them, this is probably the best one of the bunch
Got through my first day at the Orifice fine when it got hectic just closed my eyes and picturing being back at the beach, so I guess I could say I surfed through my first day back - LOL
Comments appreciated, Constructive critique even more appreciated, best way for me to learn

Initially, I thought this bird had lost its grip and almost gone into the drink. Upon further reflection I think this was a planned maneuver to get increased extension by releasing the rearward leg and swinging out on the forward leg. Green Heron and menhaden on Horsepen Bayou.
A Robber Fly with its Prey. To Get this Bokeh I held a CD sprinkled with water drops behind The Subject.
