It looks like Comet's found the perfect spot under a sunny window.
This illustration was inspired by some photographs I took of Comet one day when he found the perfect spot under a sunny window--for real. You can see one of them here. They aren't quite the same.

The first time Lily saw herself in the mirror, she didn't quite realize who she was looking at.

The Kitties have prepared plenty of sugary treats in the kitchen this weekend for my nephew's birthday. It's The Big 5! Yeah, I know my drawing's a bit messed up....I think all of these sweets have gone to my head, but no one seems to mind. Have a happy day, Liam! I miss you!

This week's drawing took a while because Simon is meticulous about his projects in the garage. I'm not sure what contraption he's making or its purpose...or even if he's made up his mind about it.
But the music is blasting and the creative juices are flowing. The last I checked, he was walking in circles and muttering to himself. He could be like this for days.
When Simon first moved in, it took a while for The Mother Kitty to warm up to her new housemate. Some say it's still a work in progress.
Time is no object when Simon, star point guard for The World Champion Boston Celtics, is in the middle of a game (even if it's just a practice one....).

Can one ever have an excess of kitties?

I'm taking part in Pikaland Artist Bootcamp (http://pikaland.com/pikabootcamp) and we're about midway through it. This week, I'm playing with creating banners. Here's one for my future etsy shop....Someday..... :-)
Check out the new blog banner I created on my blog too--another course assignment. See it here and let me know what you think: melissaconnolly.blogspot.com. :-)
Every morning, Dad greets Simon and opens the garage side door for him so that he can venture into our yard. And, every morning, instead of heading straight out, Simon looks at the door, does a u-turn to walk around the cars, and exits the garage from the left.
Some people say Simon suffers from obsessive compulsive disorder, but really it's just one of his many charming quirks.
A drawing of a friend's cat. (It was having an eye issue and it looked so funky.) I had to draw it.
pen + acryla gouache
While in Columbus for Julie's White Coat Ceremony, the kitties hit all the parties, and Dad snapped some photos! At Tim's house, they met Lefty, who hasn't yet noticed that his front leg is no longer around. In this shot, Comet and Simon show off their clawless paws, which, they say, can be equally inconvenient.

The Kitties and I have never seen Swamp Thing or read the comic book, but somehow it was the first and only thing that came to mind. And, you know how the Pixar cartoons show bloopers during the ending credits? That really happens! Don't worry, Norman and Mini finally got it together.
The Boston Celtics stomped all over the Los Angeles Lakers at home to win their 17th championship, their first in 22 years. Congratulations and thanks to Doc Rivers and all of the Celtics for this magical season!
So THIS is what they do when we're not home.

Marvin The Martian and K9 are nearby, but Simon sees no difference in his new friend.

After my quick trip to New York, I told The Kitties all about this year's Rainforest Foundation Fund Benefit Concert. While the second half of the concert was dominated by Beach Boys' tunes, I demonstrated the most entertaining part of Brian Wilson's 8-song set: Sting twisting the night away with hilarious enthusiasm. They, of course, had fun copying his moves. It was too late by the time they realized what the rug-covered dance floor would do to their heavy coats. I think some of them like the new look. Let's just hope they don't set off any big, shocking sparks!

Comet can't wait for his favorite comic book to show up in the mail every month. If only the other kitties knew that his quiet, timid demeanor was just a cover for his secret missions throughout the universe on behalf of kitty-kind.

When all of The Kitties are together, you can see that Lily brings a new, intriguing perspective. It may take a while to understand it, but we're all enjoying it so far.

It was only recently that The Kitties became aware of Norman's hoarding issues. They agreed not to tell as long as he learns the importance of sharing.

This word sparked the thought of grade school kids on field trips: Everyone has a buddy, and entire classrooms were linked hand-to-hand, as they weaved down a street or through a museum. Years ago, The Mother Kitty and her kittens took in some culture one afternoon, just like us humans do. She's cool like that.
