To make my extended ETTL cord I used a Promaster ETTL cord, most should look like this inside.
On the Camera end there are spring loaded pins that made it too difficult to solder my new wires directly to them. So I cut each wire you see here and soldered my Cat6 wires to them.
I then used 3M tape (don't use the cheap stuff) to insulate each wire.

Installed new Dell R510 server, labeled all the cables in the rack, added new KVM, and changed OS on LEVIATHAN.

Update: It has arrived and I have the OS installed, I'm waiting for 4 more 2TB hard drives (I already have 4) before I take my pictures
Tonight was a quick trip round to Dave's place to check out some of his decorating. When we turned up he was wiring in some sockets that had to come out for plastering.
He took the opportunity to do a major rewire in the house, and he's overspecced a bit. I've tried to convince him that 24 mains power sockets and 6 CAT6 network points - all in his sitting room - might be a little excessive, but he prefers to think of it as future-proofed. Or at least future-resistant. ;)
He's very proud of the brown colour in the left of frame, and in fairness it's gorgeous when seen in person.

Step 2: Cut the cable, remove some outer insulation.
At the top you can see the wire stripper I used. The red, black, and white cables were sheathed in bare copper. This bare copper corresponds to pin 2 (DIN-style numbering) on the flash sync cable.

Some ethernet cables, Cat 6, in the theme of (hopefully) the FCC bringing back Net Neutrality tomorrow.

The bedrooms and home office are wired with CAT6 for gigabit ethernet. The living room / home theatre PC will follow pretty soon. A network HD tuner provides TV feed over CAT6 to all the computers in the house. This will eventually form the basis for my DVR setup, since Mom has a tendency to fill up the DVR with her shows faster than I can say "oooh, Mythbusters".
The rest of the unterminated wires are for the living room, kitchen and garage. It may seem strange to run CAT6 to the kitchen and living/dining rooms, but remember that the CAT6 can be used for more than just ethernet. The one to my bedroom for example will carry USB data to allow my cell phone to sync and charge overnight, and the living room cable will carry voice traffic.
