This was captured by my wife using a Nikon D80. As she was bored shooting the horse shoe bend, she turned her camera towards me and captured me shooting the bend.

I found this shot interesting as it gives a perspective of the depth of the canyon.

Of all the tulip colors, I'm addicted to photographing the yellows, they're beautiful and cheery. These seem to capture the sunlight just perfectly.

This vibrant nighttime scene captures a bustling durian vendor stall at what appears to be a night market in Sattahip, Chon Buri Province, Thailand. Two vendors are at work behind the stall - one wearing a white cap and dark shirt with white gloves, standing near a large yellow weighing scale with a metal bowl on top, and another taller vendor in a white shirt reaching out and handling what looks like a payment or receipt. In the foreground, spiky durian fruits are prominently displayed, with more visible on the counter. A customer's hand extends from the left side of the frame, holding up a smartphone, likely to make a digital payment via QR code, which is common in Thai markets. The scene is illuminated by overhead lights and decorated with hanging yellow signs, creating the lively, authentic atmosphere of a Thai street market specializing in the region's famous "king of fruits."

My daughter spotted this rather large Carolina Wolf Spider (Hogna carolinensis) in the yard today! She was injured, and missing a leg. After a VERY brief photo shoot, we relocated her to my tea corner. She should have an easier time hunting aphids and other soft bodies insects over there. Captured using my Vivitar 90mm f2.8 Macro, along with 49mm of extension tubes and a slave flash in a bracket to the side of my lens. Getting good results from this cheap setup, and I'm pleased as punch!

An unguided/untracked view of the star cluster M41/NGC 2287 taken with a 300mm zoom lens mounted to a Nikon D5100 DSLR. The base exposure time was only 1/2 second, although multiple images were taken and then combined ("stacked") to produce a higher-contrast and lower-noise result.

Interestingly, the two brightest stars in this photo are almost at the opposite ends of star color index. The brightest star to the lower left has a color index of -0.19 which suggests that it is a B-type star that could have a surface temperature near to 14,000 degrees Kelvin. This hot, blue-white star has a magnitude of 6.1 and a designation of BSC 12CMa (according to the free star charting software Cartes du Ciel). However, the brightest orange-red star near the center of the star cluster has a color index of +1.54 which means that it is a cool K-type star with a surface temperature around 4500 degrees. This star has a designation of TYC 5961-3331-1 and a magnitude of 7.1.

The faintest star recorded in the photo range between magnitudes 11.5 and 12 (near to what could be seen with a 2" refracting telescope) and the field of coverage is just under one degree (or about twice the width of the full moon).

Photographed on February 16, 2012 between the hours of 9:19PM and 9:23PM PST using a Nikon D5100 DSLR and a Nikkor AF-S 70-300mm 1:4.5-5.6 G zoom lens (ISO 3200, 1/2 second exposure x 35, 300mm at f/5.6). Image registration, integration (or "stacking," giving a total integration time of 17.5 seconds), and adjustments done with PixInsight v01.07.05.0779 (trial).

No camera tracking or guided was done to capture this image (just an unmodified digital camera on a standard, fixed tripod).
