If you look carefully at the water on the left side of the photo, you can see a clear dividing line between the rough offshore waters and the calm water inside Work Channel.
Somehow, photographs never seem to capture rough sea conditions. The water in the foreground may not look that bad, but it was enough to cause continuous pitching that made for a ride that was either like the worst rocking-horse ride of one's childhood or almost unbearable, depending on the state of one's sea legs. I did fine. Lucy the Ship's Cat, not so much. Fortunately, the boat has stabilizers, so it doesn't roll much.
I hate to think how violent the seas would have to be for extreme sea conditions to show up in a photo.
Still and all, this is a scenic stretch of land and water, well worth the bouncy ride.

Rockweed, or Ascophyllum nodosum is a slow-growing algae that grows on rocks on a wave-exposed shore's intertidal zone. It is harvested by hand using rakes, and the alginates contained in it are used as emulsifying agents in foods like pie fillings and sauces.

Clearer pictures soon, I just got a little too excited while making these, heh
8 images stacked to get a longer exposure time. There was too much light to get an extremely long exposure time so I took 8 image at 20 seconds each. The technique also works really well to get rid of noise cause by the long exposures.
