I attended a Zen Calligraphy workshop with Master Kazuaki Tanahashi earlier this summer. Great experience to be in his presence.
One Unbroken Line...
A cartoon my Dad the pinstriper did when he was flirting with my mom back in the 1950s.
All freehand, the 'speedball' pen was dipped in an inkwell & it has a wide & thin edge to it. While rolling the pen in his hand he got the wide and narrow line, just like old Calligraphy!
I took some of these cartoons to Disney when I worked at Imagineering. One of the artists there looked at it, then back up at me, and said "you know, this explains ALOT..."
...er.. uh.. ok...?
A very formal light italic typeface. Smooth strokes, wide spacing, delicate serifs with somewhat connected letters. This is shown in the original Pelikan Ink Royal Blue colour. Very classic look with perfect applications in natural type products or services. This is part of my designer type collection that will be available commercially in the new year.

A foto ficou muito ruim e a letra um pouco troncha (fiz à noite e no escuro), mas fica o registro da minha primeira experiência com um pincel grande. Eu adorei e não vejo a hora de poder fazer algo mais bem feito com ele.

apparently, this is how you write my name (abigail) in chinese though i found it on the internet and so i have no idea as to the accuracy of it. if anyone can write chinese and can correct me that would be great.
also, one of my first attempts at writing chinese!
EDIT: btw i forgot to say this was inspired my www.flickr.com/photos/ummatiddle/ 's watercolour photos which i think are AWESOME!! they are so cool :)
