This is one of the Arum lily (Zantedeschia aethiopica) flowers in our garden. 2017 has been a good year for these flowers and we have two very prolific 'clumps' of these lilies in our front garden.
Zantedeschia is a genus of 8 species of herbaceous perennial flowering plants in the family Araceae, native to southern Africa from South Africa north to Malawi. The genus has been introduced on all continents except Antarctica. Common names include arum lily for Z. aethiopica and calla and calla lily for Z. elliottiana and Z. rehmannii, although members of the genus are neither true lilies of Liliaceae, true Arums, or true Callas (related genera in Araceae).
Zantedeschia was introduced to Europe in the seventeenth century as Z. aethiopica, and is now widely naturalised in Europe, North America, Central America, South America, Oceania, and Australasia. In many places it is considered a dangerous invasive species that displaces native vegetation. In the South-West of Western Australia, Z. aethiopica was introduced for horticulture, but has become a widespread and conspicuous weed of watercourses, heath, and wet pastures. Zantedeschia in North America is primarily grown as ornamental cultivars in home gardens.

Strange dreamy image I shot by overexposing Fuji Green HRT then developing in paRodinal (1+50) for 4 minutes.
Calla Lily in a deep reddish purple. Bulbs return every year and are very easy to grow.
Not a fussy flower. I had some small lily bulbs get into the lawn. Make for pretty weeds! Edit: crop/contrast/brightness

Calla lillies are probably my favorite flower. I love the simplicity of the blossom and the gentle curves.
Years ago, my father-in-law planted this in our garden. When I moved in with Karen, I dug it up and brought it with me.
This plant is a survivor and so forgiving. I'm a terrible gardener. I never water, never feed and never ever weed. It's a target for slugs and yet, when I looked out the window this evening, it had two perfect blossoms.
It is amazing to see how many calla rhizomes can grow at the base of one plant, depending where it is planted and how well you water it.
