Watercolor on paper 30 x 56 cm

When I started I thought I was going to paint white flowers...

But while I gazed the calyxes of these graceful callas, at a certain point I began to see colored shadows and unexpected shades in their white...

In the white callas I found

a pure cobalt blue

an orange pink

an iridescent gray

a greenish ochre

a merely hinted mauve...

... how many other colors are hidden inside white?

Pictures of my Calla Lily growing on my front porch.

While staying at Rancho Oso NACO, we drove in to nearby Santa Barbara to go for a hike on the Tunnel Trail. This lovely lily was on our way to the trailhead. (11-03-05-6075)

White chocolate calla lilies top this tall presentation where the cake is under the callas. A raffia bow accents the design. Originally, Elin designed this after the painting by Diego Rivera of the girl holding the calla lilies. It's been very popular since.

My 1st attempt at Calla photography Black Velvet grew the flower myself!

Calla is a young dragon that loves silver and gold. She likes to surround herself with shiny beads and beautiful glass globes.

Calla is handcrafted from polymer clays mostly Purple Pink and gold. Her eye is genuine onyx. Calla nests on a golden amulet and her necklace perch is a combination of more of silver and golden treasures. The macrame is 2 tone,,, deep purple and ivory. The golden clasp finishes the 18.5 inch long piece

I'm still playing with MS Picture it! I didn't take many pics today, but this was the best one. I used the program for the border.

Calla lilies.

This plant appeared in my front garden early last summer. I thought it looked like a calla lily but I never planted one. I do, however, discard old houseplants outside in the garden.

I checked my records, and I haven't had a calla lily in years. They are not cold hardy, so they shouldn't have survived multiple Michigan winters. And yet it was growing.

Last fall, after looking into the different calla lily varieties, I decided to dig it up and bring it indoors. I planted it in a nice pot and cared for it during the winter.

On Easter this year, I discovered a single yellow bloom. Then over the next few days I found two more. These photos show three blooms.

At the time of this photo, it continues to bloom, making new flowers.

Nature will surprise us.

Like many other aroids are representative of all parts of the marsh calla toxic. The reasons are not clear. It supports both the existing salts of oxalic acid as well as the toxic effects attributed Aroin.

There are few documented cases of poisoning. Upon taking up large amounts of the plant leads to diarrhea and paralysis of the central nervous system. On the skin affects the plant, especially the roots, irritate.
